The Twin Cities should have a white Christmas...but barely.

Officially, there is 4" of snow on the ground at MSP right now. This is the modeled snow depth on Christmas morning. We should hold on to an inch or two, even with a few days in the 30s.

The older I get, the more my politics mature from childish, naïve beliefs like "the world is complicated and leaders have to make hard decisions" to more serious, adult principles like "hurting people is bad and helping people is good."

Disheartening to see federal agents take two neighbors on 29th & Pillsbury. Chemical irritants were used on observers by them.

MPD showed up on scene, created a pathway for these federal agents to kidnap our neighbors, and assisted with controlling the space. Disappointing and heartbreaking.

Creating a thread of egregious ICE actions in the Twin Cities over the last 12 days.

For those who aren't plugged into what's going on - it can feel remote and "not so bad."

Likewise for folks far away. So this collection of stories and links aims to share a small part of the story.

Should have learned from their forebears that trying to invade the North in winter goes poorly
It's clear from the article that ICE is *miserable* here. They're freezing their asses off and being harassed everywhere they go. Property managers aren't allowing them access to rental properties and people know their rights and aren't letting them in.

KEEP IT UP.

Someone on the Minneapolis subreddit caught Waymos being delivered. We need the City Council need to ban the use of driverless cars. The technology isn't there. Our city cannot be a testing ground for 1.5 ton autonomous projectiles.

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

And I will always feel like he'd be a great mayor. The "vulnerabilities" created by racist rhetoric should not preclude someone from running for or holding office. I hope we can all hear how this sounds.

If he does pull this out, there's a book to be written about how he and his cronies transformed one of the most democratically engaged cities in America into a bitter, cynical place where a widely despised mayor can somehow magically win three terms.
Minneapolis mayoral results will continue to be tabulated tomorrow. Mayor Jacob Frey says "it looks damn good for us." He says "Minneapolis is on the rise."

By my admittedly rushed math, it seems like Fateh needs about 71% of the Davis/Jazz vote to break his way. Seems tough, but not impossible

Bad news for progressives:

W7: Cashman loses, 52-46.

W5: Ethrophic Burnett down 38-28. Needs to make up a ton of ground in ranked choices.

Good news:

W10 & 2. Chughtai and Wonsley with big wins over very well funded opposition.

W8: Stevenson 56-39.

Because Frey didn't get more than 50% of the first round votes, no winner was declared yet and won't be until tomorrow at the earliest.

4 Days to Election Day: A reminder that Ward 10 candidate Lydia Millard will pretend to be whoever you need her to be.
Here she is in April saying that bike, pedestrian, and transit improvements "penalize the majority of people who drive" to "cater to a small minority." Pure transportation resentment politics. Farthest thing from a bike advocate.
