Possibly the only poly trans lesbian compiler engineer who’s never worked on Rust.

Fan writer (current obsession: works of Alyson Greaves). Basic Balmung miqo’te. Works on Swift at the fruit company.

After the better part of a decade, I’m back on my fanfiction-writing bullshit!

“Invisible String” is based on "The Sisters of Dorley" by @badambulist.bsky.social. It's about a trans girl trying to transition, an ex-sponsor trying to help her, and the secrets they’re keeping from each other. 1/2
I'm probably a bad person for giggling madly at my girlfriend's reaction to the flavor of my extremely strong cough drops.

🎉 10 years of open source Swift! A decade ago today, we opened Swift to the world with a simple blog post: swift.org/blog/welcome

What's grown since—thanks to an incredible community of contributors—has been extraordinary. Here's to the next ten years. 🧡

An experienced organizer I really respect once reminded folks "you can't always win, but you can always, always inflict a cost. Those add up."
You cannot match the size and resources of these organizations that are abandoning trans youth and sacrificing trans lives, but you have one advantage they do not: an ability to maintain a relentless focus upon them.

Make it your work, every week, to think about how you can punish them.

“We stand with trans women!” they said as they threw trans women under the bus.
This is insane to me. "We've decided to exclude you but we hope you'll interpret that as a sign that we stand with you"
??????

Based on what????? Why would "the trans community know you stand with them" when you explicitly, loudly, deliberately, fucking DON'T??

Rule 4 of the @badambulist.bsky.social drinking game: “Drink when a character learns how conditioner works”
read this part, had a record scratch moment, checked the directions for my conditioner, and quietly went “son of a bitch”

once again learning dividends are paid to the one who invests their brain in reading. I can even spell “orchiectomy” without looking it up now! (Reading Rainbow noise)

Maybe we should just, y’know, give everybody adequate time to complete their tests. Maybe timed tests are mostly measuring things like “did you get a good night’s sleep last night?” that we don’t actually need to measure.
Even by the standards of The Atlantic, this is an extraordinarily weak evidence base for an article.

Data from a tiny handful of schools that isn't measuring the variable at issue and a few thin, secondhand anecdotes.

Day 2: Adding two integers on x86? Not with `add`! The compiler uses a completely different instruction—one designed for memory addressing. Why? xania.org/202512/02-ad... youtu.be/BOvg0sGJnes #AoCO2025

“So, what do you think about [insert Apple rumor here]?”
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!
