Last week, I visited the ICE detention center in Tacoma to ensure ICE is treating detainees humanely and honoring due process.
From my visit, it was clear ICE is trying to hide the truth about its facilities.

I told my bestie I felt guilty that I couldn't commit to growing vegetables in my garden because it's too hard, and instead I'm growing flowers this year. And she told me "flowers are important because we need more bees and bugs and butterflies!" 🥹 This perspective is needed rn, we all play a part 🫶🏾

Our culture teaches us that we can dominate, dismiss, and destroy anything and anyone that unsettles us or defies us.
Yet, we all go to sleep each night and surrender control and have no idea what images & stories our bodies and psyches will subject us to.
