Can we have a moratorium, just for the rest of December, on rancid takes that attempt to insulate white supremacists, misogynists, rape apologists, transphobes and other pieces of shit from their shittiness? Just as a little holiday treat?
I wrote about why we should not celebrate someone losing their job, especially in today’s America, even when they’ve done terrible racist things.

Losing a job should also be harder and involve workers’ bodies not unilateral management decisions.

Why the Cinnabon Story Doesn’t Make Me Happy
The left should be promoting working-class solidarity, not delighting in seeing workers summarily dismissed.

Another reason to hate Henry Ford! Seriously, this dude SUCKED.
Henry Ford HATED Jazz because too many Jewish & Black Folks were a part of it. He pushed the Department of Education to make square dance part of the curriculum to counter Jazz.

To this day, what Henry Ford helped do to the rail systems will make him my sworn enemy. That and his rampant antisemitism. And his union busting.

The dude sucked is what I’m saying.

One of the worst parts of the modern condition is having to listen to billionaires airing out the stupidest policy ideas, random musings, and other mental detritus. It’s unbearable.

A thought came and went about how many in the media want both Olivia Nuzzi and AI to be more important and thoughtful than they are, but I think it's a general feeling of how often mediocrity is rewarded.

Got to my boyfriend’s place and he was playing the Sinners soundtrack. We then proceeded to have a spirited discussion about what makes a movie a musical versus a movie about music.

Hot damn I love pop culture.

There's a plant that transports me to my grandma's garden. Its smell is inexplicable and perfect. I never know when it will appear. I can't remember its name no matter how often I look it up. It's a gift I receive at random. I'm grateful for my nameless, fragrant plant. And the memory of my grandma.

Buddy Guy should get a special award at The Oscars for wrapping up a larger-than-life, masterpiece of a movie with the perfect amount of sadness *and* joy. No one else could have done what he did.

The mainstream media’s fear of being labeled biased has fucked us over in a lot of ways. Ethical journalism does not mean refusing to take a stand.
In spirit, content and intent, this was really no different to a Klan rally.

The exception being the wholesale absence of outrage in mainstream media.

This period of history will be an indictment on those standing silent, as much as the monster himself.
Trump: "Ilhan Omar, whatever the hell her name is. With her little turban. I love her. She comes in, does nothing but bitch ... we ought to get her the hell out ... she's here illegally."

The crowd in Pennsylvania then starts chanting "send her back!"

I said it before, will say it again -- generative AI fetishizes "ideas" while sneering at effort, execution, and education. That, despite Gen-AI being built on and out of other people's effort, execution and education.
A.I. and the Fetishization Of Ideas
In writing and in dispensing my (very dubious, probably shady) writing advice, I am often keen to note that ideas are bullshit. Most writers treat them like precious gems when really, ideas are lik…

I spent years thinking I was the only person who adored this movie. Fran has my favorite cinematic "glow-up" because it feels real, and the roof dance is so romantic, it makes me tingle.

Once I start it, I have to watch it until the end.

Reddit has become an invaluable resource. A sentence I never thought I'd be typing in 2025.
I'll add that as someone who not that long ago spent many frantic nights looking for information on sleep training, feeding, etc etc--by far the most valuable internet resource was reddit, the only place with human advice. Everything else is basically useless at this point.
This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.
