begrudgingly making a public face here but i am 30 or 40 years old and tired of Things
i didn't properly process this was happening when I saw this earlier, this has so much potential
You have one of the most talented anime studios in the industry working on this, Shueisha. Treat 'em like you do Wit Studio with SpyFam, and just let them cook.
"Ruridragon" anime series by KyoAni studio is coming.

drawing is the repeated experience of finding out that you have no idea what size things are and also that a lot of things, such as chairs, CAN be a lot of different sizes in real life, but whatever size you choose will feel dreadfully wrong

Even in Scrooge's "are there no prisons" speech he doesn't conceive of opening one himself on a for profit basis.
you think about scrooge and he basically gave cratchit reasonably stable long term employment and paid him more or less enough to raise a family on a single income and he's still a fucking villain. today's billionaires are like 10x worse

astro bot is a game i have conflicted feelings on because it has some of the most genuinely repellent brand worship to ever be placed into a work of art sold for actual money but whenever resetera argues about it i forget all that and become its biggest shooter on earth. thats the goat

Ten thousand fucking percent.

Like, I get it. I get that you're despairing. Shit is rough. But skeeting "we're so fucked" ten times a day accomplishes nothing, alleviates nothing, and contributes to learned helplessness.

In all seriousness, if you feel that welling up? Log off. You need a break.
Most of all, drop that "we're fucked" mindset. Time to leave that doomerism bullshit behind and focus on doing good.
I want 2026 to be the year where we collectively stop rewarding negativity. Stop bringing others down to bring yourself up. Stop bringing attention to genuinely awful people. Stop ignoring people bringing positive changes to the world. We need more kindness and empathy. I’m dead serious

you know when you saw people online years and years ago trying to trick other more gullible people online by answering common computer issues with "delete the system32 file"? and you thought "who would fall for that?" I did. I did that. because someone online told me to. they legitimately got my ass

honestly, “it’s because they’re still mad about the New Deal” is a pretty good guiding hypothesis for a lot of stuff
The standard story was that 1950s religious revivals were about contrasting America with the godless commies of the USSR, but I found material that hinted at an older well funded campaign that reframed the revival as a corporate pushback against the New Deal.

So I followed that unexpected thread!

as a longtime FFXI player, its Starlight music is almost more the music of the season than anything actually Christmas music. to say that hearing it in FFXIV makes me happy is such an understatement, I'm so glad that happened and is part of the event

things are so so so so so much worse for the lower half in this economy because the things exploding the most (healthcare, housing, food, heating) are the most inflexible parts of a small budget, and they're already maxxed out and spending very efficiently, so any slip is loss of something material
people for whom housing is 15% of income just literally cant imagine the world of people whose housing is 50% of income, and everyone needs 2k calories a day no matter the wealth. cpi just isnt really that meaningful in this discussion

This is extraordinary, heartbreaking, and a red alert warning sign for our democracy.

These people are about to be federal judges, and they refuse to answer whether the U.S. Capitol was attacked on January 6.

They say they can't comment because it's "a political controversy".
Sen. BLUMENTHAL: Was the U.S. Capitol attacked on January 6, 2021?

Trump nominee: *dodges*

Trump nominee: *dodges*

Trump nominee: Well, individuals entered the Capitol.

Blumenthal: You are in fear—how will you have the courage to be fair and impartial?

If they still have access to the tailnet after login credentials are revoked, this polycule has worse IT than I would expect.

If they don't and the offboarding email still includes bare go/ links, then the polycule has exactly the level of HR I would expect.

This is one of those cases.
