I don’t understand the “oh, you have a LINE on a GRAPH, you think that MEANS anything?!” people who also self-id as some kind of socialist/communist. how exactly are you going to run the command economy, dude? macroeconomic policy made on vibes?
I don't think this a particularly accurate description.
It literally isn't.

A survey is an unscientific method of gathering information that is often delivered by a system that has gamed the very survey to give the results they desire.

Voters have agency to look things up instead of being infantilized.

Rep. McBride got a handful of Republicans to vote against a GOP anti-trans bill with Democrats a week ago. Rep. Underwood has another bill to help parents gain even more access to baby-changing stations. This isn’t difficult.
I don't even identify as a "Democratic voter" but I would like some people in the federal government to take responsibility for offering something better than, Trump is bad. No shit; I already know that! So what are you offering other than, we don't actually like immigrants or trans kids either.

Posts like this are exactly what I mean when the supposedly savvy are the easiest to propagandize. Where a handful of the party straying gets turned into partywide complicity along with "if media didn't say it, must not have happened". Just smug Murc's Law assurance of "only Dems can fail b/c Dems"

Dear god. I read the quote before I saw who the author was and assumed the quote was from a liberal/leftist, talking about black women.

So it’s about white men then. That’s the whiniest dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

Honestly at this point, why even bother watching new shows on Netflix when even if they're well received and ratings are good, they still cancel them?

WHAT IS THE DAMNED POINT of filing impeachment when you ALREADY FUCKING KNOW THE REPUBLICANS WILL NEVER REMOVE THE BASTARD????

Good fucking grief, people.

We cannot vote no on everything. Sometimes you have to vote for a bill to keep things running.

Part of the issue with this "debate" is that the phrase "luxury housing" simply means new housing stock. The construction of new housing stock does not, on its own, cause gentrification and displacement.
it’s one thing to have poor people in the neighborhoods working on a wrong understanding - you certainly empathize with how they’d see it that way and it’s not their professional focus.

it’s another thing to have housing professional work on a completely wrong understanding!

To add to this, a lot of those rich people were most likely priced out of their previous neighborhoods. Can't afford Soho anymore, so let's look at Williamsburg. Can't afford Williamsburg, so let's check out Bushwick etc.
In my experience though the answer is “no”. The rich people are coming because that area is now desirable to them when it wasn’t earlier. But that’s almost never because of the new buildings - it’s because the economics (and usually job market) have shifted and now it’s attractive to rich people!

I keep seeing this and it's not really true. Houses are expensive because your neighbors block new housing. Go to any Nextdoor neighborhood page and it's all NIMBYs. We have not kept up with demand for housing in the last 20 years. That is a local problem. Stop electing NIMBYS!
Houses are expensive because billionaires gobble up homes and fix the rent or turn them into Airbnbs. The billionaires want you to think immigrants are buying up all the property.
