I will never understand why they replaced community submitted subtitles for this nonsense
Real human people were happy and willing to make subtitles in a variety of languages for free, and the creator had full control of what submissions were used

It finally happened. I finally ran into a Youtube video with that awful auto-dubbing feature turned on.
The video is an interview and it's... not even watchable now. Like the auto-dubbing is just saying random nonsensical words. 😭
Why did they ever think this was a good feature to implement?

Heheheh the build step is operational.
I can write blog posts in markdown and have them converted to html pages, and a sorted list of formatted links is injected into the main page.
All in ~160 lines of plain javascript. No frameworks, full static site after build.

I'm pretty sure that at this point in time, the remaining opposition to renewables are nothing but the tantrums of those with interest in fossil fuels and/or could not get the logic of "there's no cost to obtaining the fuel" to sink into the brain.

Coding a simple homepage and blog for myself has been an interesting exercise in progressive simplification.
Went from using svelte, deciding I could just have a simple build step w/no framework, to even cutting out webcomponents.
Basically: how far can I simplify without it feeling cumbersome.
