Kinda love it when a Silicon Valley guy is fearless enough to be this publicly insane. Obviously this should disqualify him from holding any real power in society, but I think we should keep a few of these guys around as court jesters and whatnot

I think a lot of this type of guy think of military history as "talking about WW2-era German tanks," rather than making a serious study of war as an academic subject
I don’t know how things are at Harvard, where Hankins is, but I can tell you that military history is popular, but not uniquely so, at my public university.
90% of military history is about where the latrines are dug. You cannot make war if you have dysentery.

Feel the same way about Starbucks. Yeah, sure, I object to all the labor practices stuff. But more importantly, I can find better, cheaper coffee 20 other places in my city. Why would I ever go there in the first place
my thing is even I didn't have a fiery personal grudge against Twitter, I would not use it for the same reason I don't use Facebook - it's a miserable user experience. It's nothing but ads and ragebait and ai slop. It doesn't have to be a moral stance, it's just a shit product

Chilling final sentence. What's stood out to me over and over again this year is how much these are not "just guys doing their job," not "just enforcing the law." These are people who genuinely relish the chance to snatch people off the streets and brutalize them. Sick stuff
