This bullshit why The Democratic Party, Inc keeps losing, wtf Tom!?

His suggestions will never happen under Trump's rule.

"If we want to raise taxes on the wealthiest—or, at the very least, return to pre-Trump rates for those earning more than $400,000, which we should—let’s let Congress do it."

White people used to use Black babies as alligator bait.

This was the very first thing I thought of when I read about “Alligator Alcatraz.”
Well into the 20th century, white Americans kidnapped Black toddlers and used them as live alligator bait; also skinned ✨Our✨ babies alive to create chum to attract the apex predators.

This horror was a popular comedic trope. Great example of why white America voted to outlaw teaching US History. 🇺🇸

The path is very clear: Republicans are creating a system to allow anybody—you, me, whoever—to have their citizenship revoked, sent to a prison camp in the Everglades, then exported to a labor camp in a third-world country. That entire pipeline could be in place in 24 hours.
Trump calls for deporting US citizens: "We also have a lot of bad people that have been here for a long time ... many of them were born in our country. I think we ought to get them the hell out of here too, if you want to know the truth. So maybe that'll be the next job."

If you’re trying to understand what’s been going on btwn UVA and the federal regime as the state Gov has finished shaping the BOV to his liking, this is worth your time to read
This is a must-read story (including full text of letters from a FOIA request) by the Daily Cavalier about Trump admin's efforts to misuse federal antidiscrimination law in support of its ideological agenda against DEI at UVA. Kudos to the student journalists! www.cavalierdaily.com/article/2025...

Full thread is excellent, and I especially appreciate that Greg Pak points out Zohran is the one who paid & will keep paying most of the cost for her radio shit-show. Mamdani graciously took time out of his day to sit there and listen to Gillibrand make excuses for her inexcusably racist comments.
It is GOOD that she apologized. But it's important to remember that there is an EMOTIONAL COST to being subjected to that kind of treatment, even if you get an apology. There's an emotional cost to sitting there and accepting the apology. It's all work, and it all stays with you.

imo Mamdani's language focus was a big part of this winning strategy- Zohranfornyc.com is available in 8 languages (English, Spanish, Arabic, French, Bangla, Haitian Creole, Simplified Chinese, Urdu).

Last I checked in mid June, all other NYC mayoral candidates' websites were English only.

you know, if i were in the position of interviewing jeffries here, i would ask the congressman to specify exactly when and where mamdani used that language.
Hakeem Jeffries on Mamdani: "'Globalizing the intifada' by way of example is not an acceptable phrasing. He's gonna have to clarify his position on that as he moves forward."

What a shit way to wake up.

UVA's alert system is so bad, I can't express how incredibly unhelpful these msgs were to me as Cville resident & friend/family of a kid on campus.

Nice to know (sarcasm) we can always depend on UVa to communicate info about shootings in the least helpful way possible.

The worst people and the things we arguably require least are benefiting under Trump's nonsense

It isn't a surprise

But it bears repeating
One product that got a tariff exemption is PET resin, used for plastic bottles.

Reyes Holdings, a Coca-Cola bottler owned by two politically connected brothers, recently hired lobbyists with close ties to the Trump White House to advocate on tariffs.

I really wish BlueSky had picked a different color, because at this point on Twitter the blue check means "they're definitely a bigot, probably a facist, & possibly a bot".

Maybe someday I'll care about someone's verification status & uncheck the box, for now the blue check is too toxic even on BS.

Virginia's election this year is going to be hell.

We're looking at potentially worse supply chain disruptions than during covid, with higher faster inflation, but no stimulus checks or PUA? In a state that is home to a LOT of gov't workers just got laid off? It's going to be hell.

I need a secret spice level decoder ring for restaurants.

Noem is a hypocrite, obv, but I also I think the "$3k cash" is a lie, and no-one will be shocked if that $3k in cash is not in the bag if/when it is found.

Why would Noem lie about having $3k in cash? To get a payout from the restaurant, the restaurant's insurance, and/or a billionaire benefactor.
Last week, DHS and Secretary Noem's staff and spokespeople suggested that because Mr. Abrego Garcia had $1,100 in cash on him when arrested outside Home Depot seeking day labor, that was strong evidence that he was a member of MS-13.

I guess that raises a similar question about her $3,000.

I grew up in Pennsylvania, less than a 1 hour drive from Argall's district, and yeah - I saw & experienced similar stuff growing up (local dude politicians who are too extreme for federal politics, acting creepy towards girls & young women). I'll be v surprised if he faces any negative consequences.
“Senator Argall asked Mary, ‘Do you think we should allow pornographic magazines in Kindergarten classrooms?‘ ... ‘Mary looked confused and had to ask, ‘What does that mean?’ He explained to her, in front of the entire audience, that it meant ‘naked pictures of people in books and magazines.”
