Drives me mental how people in media do no seem to understand how the public sector works. Someone on a career break isn’t being paid. The job is filled by someone else. It literally doesn’t affect you if someone takes a 12 career break and there’s loads of reasons why they might. It’s an outlier.

As a cyclist, there’s a complete lack of regard for anyone else on the road except the individual car (that goes for other cars). I’ve had close calls as a pedestrian, red lights seem optional, people on their phones constantly, speeding etc. Haven’t cycled in over a year because of how bad it is.
Been absolute carnage on the roads, and it breaks my heart.
Something has gone terribly and uniquely wrong for road safety in Ireland.

A huge number of us are or will be carers at some point in our lives and the lack of either respect or support by so many politicians, including the leader of the country, for the enormous work done and the emotional and physical toll it takes is infuriating. Completely out of touch.
