I feel like Indiana abandoning Trump is a tipping point. And it’s not because they didn’t want a new map. It’s because he shook them down.

LLMs give people with delusional belief systems a way to organise those beliefs. The model fills in gaps, supplies connective tissue, and wraps the madness in formal language.
It doesn't make the claims more credible to us, it just tidies them up.

Just a fundamentally decent, normal person, and I miss that so much right now

The Trump White House is full of cretins and ghouls who are constitutionally incapable of sincerity or humility

/7 Klein’s other theme seems to be that even if people are advocating terrible things, things that dehumanize others, we should find a way to act as if they are not, in order to find common ground. But is that really right? And what if it’s not reciprocal?

It's also a reminder of what the Times can get its powerful hackles up about—a woman using home email at work, a thirty-year old footnote, an 81-year-old man being 81. But not a vividly antisemitic wannabe dictator building a system of concentration camps.
The NYT story about Zohran Mamdani is transparently a favour to the Trump administration, an attempt to prime a distributed witchhunt to uncover any detail of his life - through legal, extralegal, or criminal means - that can be used as a pretext to strip him of his citizenship & deport him

In a notional past when journalism worked, it surely would've realized that not only is Trump an abuser but he trains his workers to be abusers, none of which has anything to do with a "comms strategy"

By abusing journalists, fascists convince the worst sort of person that journalism doesn't matter

AI does not "recognize" student behaviors. It cannot "confer" with anybody. It cannot "observe" anything. Anyone who so blithely and uncritically anthropomorphize these tools--as Khan does--simply cannot be taken seriously as an authority on education. He's a huckster chasing a buck, nothing more.

As many of the replies note, Making America Great Again never seems to include taxation at the rates we had back then. I ascribe all this fake nostalgia to people who think The Wonder Years was a documentary.

That’s the good stuff that includes all kinds of sources and methods and never should have been outside a SCIF.
