LoL I love this. Also apologies to my dogs past, present, and future for taking on my anxiety 🫣😅
My sister got a dog to help with her anxiety and now he has anxiety. So she got a second dog to help with his anxiety and you’ll never guess what happened.

I always figured having to square dance in HS was racist but wasn’t sure how. Wild.
Henry Ford HATED Jazz because too many Jewish & Black Folks were a part of it. He pushed the Department of Education to make square dance part of the curriculum to counter Jazz.

Man. Wild to learn that the emerald miner thing is essentially an urban myth, but it also makes the stuff Elon has done make more sense. He didn’t have money really so he didn’t know what to do when he had a lot of it. It made him who he is, constantly chasing the high of making more money
Episode 47: Elon Musk

Walter Isaacson’s definitive biography poses the question: is it ok to be a pathetic, cruel, lying reactionary if it kind of helps you build cars?

This is very good. I like to remind people that headlines in the 80s would (regularly!) talk about people who drank lattes or ate sushi as exotic, self-indulgent yuppies with obscure tastes. Media constantly made fun of “haute cuisine” meals with tiny portions because fine dining was bad.
This is actually quite brilliant, up to and including the final sentence 🔥

Lots to learn from the NYC mayoral race for sure, but I think most surprising has been realizing that while I would never vote for Sliwa, he genuinely loves NYC and its people and actually has a variation of integrity while Cuomo and Adams possess not an ounce
Zohran Mamdani says on NY1 he didn't get a congratulatory call from either Andrew Cuomo or Eric Adams last night.

He says he got a congratulatory call from Curtis Sliwa, though.

@zohrankmamdani is a deeply thoughtful human being and we think he would make the best NYC mayor imaginable. We feel this as New Yorkers, as Jews and as human beings who are desperate for kindness, compassion and empathy to be represented in our politics.

My now-hubs used to watch Real Time every Friday, so I watched it w/ him occasionally. Pretty sure Maher went on a hyper Islamophobic rant at one point and I was like yeah I’m done. And THEN he interviewed that Milo creep - laughed hysterically and deleted the recording schedule from the DVR

TIL that people w/ a level of financial comfort I can only dream about genuinely think renters should… never enjoy a nice meal? I was an NYC renter for a LONG time and I went to places like Omen Sushi occasionally *gasp*.

Also I love the workwear guy a lot.
i don't get it. omen sushi in nyc is cheaper than nobu in malibu, where you dined last year without your wife

Admittedly I haven’t been a practicing Catholic in a long while, but 11 years of Catholic school ingrained a lot of the doctrine in my memory, and I am confused - did they change Catholicism to not believe that poor people deserve care and I just missed it?
heartbroken to learn the pope sympathizes with the poor. how can i continue to believe in god

Almost dropped my phone when Saeed said this in the latest episode of Vibe Check 😅 “[e]vacuate yourself from your own life”? The poet is doing a poetry - ChatGPT could NEVER 💜🤣
To become dependent on ChapGPT is to evacuate yourself from your own life.

YIKES, no thanks. I’m gonna be alive inside every damn thing I do, even and especially the ish I don’t wanna do.

Weird thing where people say “no one could have predicted it” when really what they mean is their political commitments and orientation were such that they ignored everyone who was predicting it

Sorry but “no one could have“ and you having your head stuck up your ass are two different situations

Yeah I’m tired of talking and hearing about Ezra Klein too but this is a good breakdown of why the Coates interview was particularly annoying to me.
I've been thinking about that Klein and Ta-Nehisi Coates convo. Specifically, how Klein kept saying that Coate's pragmatism in positioning his work in line with those who came before him fighting for rights they knew were unlikely to come to fruition in their lifetimes was depressing /1

I know we are trapped in the hell of constant cognitive dissonance these days and have been for years, but situations like this make the MAGA/Trump turn the past two weeks on blaming the left for “inciting political violence” really make my ears ring.
I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)

All of these semantic arguments trying to spin the hatred Kirk peddled as us “misunderstanding” him is such gaslighting BS. “That was out of context!” Oh, so you’ve never been a member of an oppressed or targeted group then, b/c I gotta tell ya, that subtext his ilk uses, it’s pretty loud to us.
People keep "debunking" the claim that Charlie Kirk wanted to stone gay people to death but I'm pretty sure he meant it.

The moment you accept racism and bigotry as a “political stance” and not a moral failing is the moment you have lost the plot. Thinking that kind of foundational justification to cause harm is reasonable means you’ve joined the side of your comfort over others’ humanity.
Klein explicitly says his project is to dishonestly portray the true nature of the right for his readers in hopes that helps foster some common ground to heal our nation. This didn’t work for Obama and it’s not gonna work for him.
