You don't need to be an anarchist to think that ICE should be abolished

You can be a good governance liberal who thinks that the agency has demonstrated an institutional disrespect for the Constitution, and therefore advocate for unwinding the agency and rolling its functions into a revived INS.
ICE have revealed themselves to be nothing more than the partisan militia of MAGA. When Trump became president, he did not "execute Order 66." They have been yearning for the Day of the Rope since their founding, and all Trump did was give free rein to their basest impulses.

It's very important that you put two-factor authentication on your reddit account because otherwise someone else will do it for you. Reddit was pretty responsive but it still takes a while to delete even just a few hours' worth of NSFW-bot posting. And the DMs.

I don’t think I’m being hyperbolic when I say that the guy who replaced real doors with barn doors in hotel bathrooms should be drawn and quartered. Fuck that guy, I hate him

Immigrants of a hundred nationalities and ethnicities flocked to dying rural towns to take hard and low paying jobs. They brought life and prosperity to these towns, and in thanks, the native population voted to destroy it all and ruin everyone’s lives.

Since I've already seen it taken down from YouTube once; I downloaded the full 13 or so minutes, straightened the video, loudened the audio, & cut it into 5 parts.

Here is Part 1 of the Unaired CBS CECOT piece that Bari Weiss spiked for the Trump Admin.

Harrowing & a must watch. Other parts below;

The assistant US attorneys who participated in this sham prosecution should be disbarred
This is huge. Trump has successfully prosecuted a state official for bucking his racist war on immigrants. If they can get a judge, they can get anyone. Gift article.

Since I'm now fired up by aesthetics tonight, let me state for the record that I think the Liberal Aesthetic is the meta-aesthetic that arises from the values of a liberal society: a joyous, jarring, but fundamentally peaceful plurality.

This is at the heart of the idealistic conception of jazz...

Wagner’s point about visionless neoliberalism is true but I don’t think the outrage over the White House’s destruction is mere platitude, but rather the start of a reinvigorated liberalism returning to basic liberal values and civic virtue. The flattening of intra liberal debate weakens the piece

Adams severely damaged agency capacity when he dictated return to office when the economy was hot, causing many to jump ship for the private sector, followed by a hiring freeze. The Civil Service issues are longstanding but the OMB issue is underplayed: getting them to approve anything is agony.
Staffing challenges have bedeviled many city agencies — a reality set to confront the incoming administration of Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani, which has pledged ambitious new programs across city government.

the drip drip Oversight Dems are doing right now is reminds me of wikileaks (complimentary)
NEW: Oversight Dems are releasing additional photos from Jeffrey Epstein's estate to the public.

We will continue releasing photographs and documents to provide transparency for the American people. It’s time for the Department of Justice to release the files.

Dershowitz is so clever, finding a way around the 22nd amendment. But there’s another amendment he hasn’t considered that bars a 3rd term. It’s the second one.

Can’t emphasize enough how the accuracy of lay people‘s criticisms of AI cannot be used as an argument against them when proponents show, time and again, that they ultimately believe themselves to hold a superior moral mandate over all of society, no matter how trivial or obscure the issue.
Despite a vote, Jason Clinton, Anthropic’s Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and a moderator in the Discord, overrode them, members tell us.

When users confronted Clinton he would not submit to mob rule, and explained that AIs have emotions.

The ”I hate to break it to you…” framing has gotta be the top 3 cope in these repeat discurses because it’s a redirection every time of the actually existing behavior and development of these companies and the deployment of their products. It is always inevitable, you will never have a true choice.

“Your honor, the People have discovered a scrivener’s error in the jury’s verdict. It appears they mistakenly wrote ‘Not’ in front of ‘Guilty.’”
The immigration “judge” allegedly sua sponte — meaning without any request by a party, which is obviously a lie given the circumstances — “corrected” the 2019 order to fix a “scrivener’s error” and order Mr Abrego Garcia deported.

Not surprisingly, Judge Xinis blocked that. What a corrupt act.

Whether done out of self interest or principle the 21 republican state senators in Indiana did a good thing by standing up - finally - to a dictator when they joined democrats to kill this power grab. Their reward for doing the right thing is being subjected to death threats from their own voters.
It looks like ~30 no votes, so Indiana is rebuffing Trump's demands for a gerrymander!

Republicans want you to die and they hold the majority. You cannot shutdown your way out that reality. We are touching the stove and it sucks.
JUST IN: The US Senate has rejected the both of the proposed healthcare bills, which likely will now cause Obamacare subsidies to lapse for over 20 million Americans.

Sarah Isgur is doing an AMA on the "Deep State Centrism" subreddit, in case you wanted banal constitutional takes from a conservative lawyer. Surprise, the Court is imperfect (nods thoughtfully) but no, we can't and shouldn't change it, that would be bad (because my side would lose).

WHICH MESSAGE WILL RESONATE WITH DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY VOTERS?

"Better angels of our nature"

OR

"Behold, the day of the Lord comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger... I will punish the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pomp of the arrogant, and lay low the pomp of the ruthless."
Once again, for 2028 I'm a single issue voter and that issue is post-Trump lustration. GTFO with "better angels of our nature" for once.
They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.
