it would be cool if there were any clues about whether our head of trust and safety understands how online harassment works, because then we could figure out if making a harassment policy that can't actually be enforced - and posting about it - was an honest mistake.

The fact that it’s built on an open protocol is all the more reason for Bluesky proper to be unabashedly opinionated about what kind of place they want this to be and who is welcome here. If Singal or anyone else wants to start their own server, they are free to do so.

We need to remember as things slowly escalate that the police are not & have never been your friend. We all make the ACAB jokes but we have to take what they have always been very seriously. They can’t be reformed and tbh I think trying to past this point is folly. Be careful and be wary around them
