"In many cases, borrowers have paid back much or all of the total cost of their loans but continue to see balances rise because of accrued interest."
Ending the SAVE student loan program and forcing 8 million people into repayment will juice the affordability crisis even further. Borrowers told me they will have to cut their budgets, find new side gigs, and don't get what the public policy point of this is.

GOP Forcing Eight Million Student Loan Borrowers Into Repayment - The American Prospect
The most affordable of all the federal repayment programs is ending sooner than planned after Trump conspired with red-state attorneys general to kill it.

There were other very hard times and very bleak days—times of great loss and death and senselessness. But we’re here now, living through these. It’s okay to need a moment, to hate it, even when you remember it’s not exceptional or unique.

Even if you’re not in that area, the need for blood donations is critical this time of year nationwide.

You can still show support for victims everywhere by donating blood where you are.

There is one movie I wish I’d never watched. (Actually didn’t finish the thing, couldn’t.) I’ve watched a lot of horror, but Bone Tomahawk was the one movie I wish I could literally forget.

The Right Stuff. My husband and sons never get tired of that thing but I sure do.
Never mind movies you’ve watched multiple times, name a movie you’ve watched once and would never watch again.

this is your regularly scheduled discreet/discrete explainer!

discreet - unobtrusive, cautious
e.g. to pull aside for a discreet conversation, to slip a note discreetly

discrete - separate, distinct
e.g. a discrete point on a graph, discrete unrelated events

in fic, you probably want discreet!

No internet then, saw a TV ad for a US govt brochure you could send away for (mail order, from Pueblo, CO) detailing 100 healthcare careers. Got it, read it, decided in tenth grade to be a clinical lab technologist. Got a B.S. degree. Worked in (and loved) the hospital lab for 40 years.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

I think if you have chronic pain in any form, it’s important to not get mad at yourself for being tired. It is genuinely not your fault. You’re always hurting, and it’s constantly stressing your brain out and sapping your energy. You’re doing the best you can, and that is enough. ❤️
