You do not have to pretend the Union and Confederacy were on equal footing because they both shot Americans.

when you read arguments from skull-measurers about race and IQ, they're written as though they're talking about a two-peaked distribution with a little divot in the middle, but if you look at the Lynn data they're talking about, what they're actually saying is that there is virtually no overlap.
one of the most grotesque things about this argument is that even if you accept IQ as being correlated with a constellation of meaningful facts, the existence of a Black Nobel prize winner -- just one -- falsifies the hypothesis that Subsaharan Africans are -3 standard deviations dumber than whites.

It’s really strange being reminded that “when I first heard about trans rights” is a thing that may have happened for some folks who I think are around my age only after the anti-(LGB but really gay) movement swung hard to go after trans people
An important point here is that I never thought of myself as intolerant. I always wanted to be completely supportive of trans rights. However, I found myself wondering and worrying about various technicalities and potential problems for getting to a better place.

The reality is, there is a whole complex dedicated to steering the discourse towards "just asking questions" about trans rights. This focuses the conversation on super rare and narrow issues that, in most cases, aren't issues at all.
