@joplinapp.bsky.social I like Joplin for a variety of reasons but sync is slow. I use it on 3 devices and every time, I have to wait for the sync to finish. If I don't, I end up with conflicts.
Isn't syncing hundreds of files necessarily slow? What about using some form of database instead?

Trying to cut out single use plastic is as difficult as trying to cut out fossil fuels - no matter how hard you try, the stuff has seeped really, really deep into the basic structures of food and transport

As this great piece lays out, govt's have to actively kill this terrible cycle:

Sourcing fruit and veg without wrapping was hard enough, but finding an eco-friendly way to brush my teeth was its own world of pain. And as for my 6pm crisps fix – forget it

Draining the world's peatlands for farming and mining is releasing so much CO2 that if it was a country, it would be the 4th biggest polluter in the world after China, the US, + India.

And the associated losses in biodiversity are vast.
