I'm the Chris Walsh from NL, Canada 🇨🇦 that writes fantasy books you probably haven't read. The Gold & Steel Saga, specifically. My main site with book info and related ramblings: http://www.thegoldandsteelsaga.com

I don't want to hear "sorry" and "I didn't vote for him" from Americans on here. I want to know why, as he destroys your own country from within and threatens no less than three others with war that none of us can afford, you're not in the streets by the thousands protesting day and night? 🧵

I love how every avenue of Microsoft pushing for ai just leads to this

What Bryan doesn't realize is that AI can't conjure new ideas. It only spits back out a jumble of what is put into it with coding that helps arrange it as best as possible into something that its human users recognize as vaguely coherent with their prompt.

Also, no relation to this Walsh, luckily.
Lmfao every AI defense piece is like "AYY I FUCKIN SUCK BRO HOPEFULLY THIS FUCKIN STEAL YOUR SHIT MACHINE WILL MAKE ME SUCK SLIGHTLY LESS OK"

Now, the bigger question: How do we stop it?
I say this as someone whose entire job is finding the narrow use cases in which AI is actually useful:

All the fear about AI, all the reluctance to adopt it, is entirely legitimate, and a product of the fact that it's been foisted on the public with no consideration of its negative externalities.
I continue to have no sympathy left for whinging about how the public are rude about AI and feel threatened by it when the biggest players in the AI space have spent years very vocally and constantly *threatening the public*

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.
Jimmy Fallon: "And do you use ChatGPT when raising your baby?"

Sam Altman: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."

I'll say it to my bitter end: fuck AI.
While this article goes very rightly into the disrespect actors have faced in dubbing, underneath that is an entire ecosystem of abused and rushed freelancers doing the timecoding, adapting, directing, engineering, and mixing who Amazon also attempted to cut.

Amazon's AI anime dubbing fiasco reminds us that voice actors are severely undervalued
Amazon recently rolled out bad AI-generated dubs for several anime on Prime Video, demonstrating yet again that voice actors are undervalued.

Normalize writing out full values when discussing things like the worth of billionaires and corporations. It's easy to gloss over how much money is truly being discussed when it's shown as "$342 billion" It's much harder to ignore the obscenity of it when it's written out as $342,000,000,000.

Harry Truman said: "The buck stops here."
Trump's version of that would be: "The buck stops here... If it's beneficial for me to have it stop here. If it's not to my benefit, the buck stopped with one of my flunkies somewhere over there, and I never knew anything about the buck, or the flunky."

To Trump, those words make perfect sense because he believes he -is- the law.
The draft dodging idiot posted a pic of this West Point plaque. It contains these words:

“Our American Code of Military Obedience requires that, should orders and the law ever conflict, our officers must obey the law.”

That is precisely what Senator Mark Kelly told officers to do. #NoSedition

Seeing the tracjectory of MTG's political career play out in real time these past few years is wild. She's gone from this performative, human-highlight-reel of everything that's wrong with conservative politics to completely disillusioned with everything she once stood for. 1/?

If this is Trump's political downfall, he will get desperate. He will try to divert to, or escalate an existing situation, or perhaps make his big grab for absolute power. May the pillars of America withstand his flailing, because his flunkies have been weakening them for such a moment.

If the Bronze Boob is this upset over Colbert and Kimmel, he'd be shitting spray-tanned bricks over George Carlin right now, because I guarantee you, that even at some 88-odd years old, Carlin would still find it in him to speak up about what's happening right now.

If you're having an event and you use AI to make your poster/ad, know I will never attend. If you can't be bothered to hire a proper designer, I can't bothered to show up.

I feel like I come on too strong when it comes to online discourse regarding AI slop, but at the same time, I feel that its usage and the spreading of such, needs to be called out at every showing of it. It's a virus against humanity.
