This "Connolly will upset the EU" stuff is also ridiculous btw. The EU can deal with Meloni, Orban, Fico etc etc on a day to day basis. The idea that a figurehead's words might somehow meaningfully damage Ireland's standing is genuinely deluded.

Widow: "Please do"

One thing I don't understand in this election season - why are Fine Gael so afraid of Sinn Fein? SF have done a really good job of tanking their own vote. FG are acting like SF are neck and neck in the polls

I think the discourse around Bluesky is really showing how many people genuinely cannot conceive of any way to feel interacting online other than intentionally making themselves pissed off

When did the that we should open our social media experiences to every kind of crazy, offensive, whacko out there in the name of broadening our horizons become the norm? Why do so many opinion writers think that should be the norm?
Opinion - The problem with Bluesky: It won’t broaden our horizons: In the wake of Donald Trump’s election win, the social-media platform has enjoyed a surge of new users looking for an alternative to Elon Musk’s X. But will it be useful, if it just creates an echo chamber for the left?

The way people who use social media for a job vs how normal people (that's us btw) use social media is very different, yet the people who use it for a job don't seem to get that. Normies don't care about echo chamberism or follower counts, we just want to muck about with interesting people.

If a teacher ran Ryanair, they’d find a better way of organising a ‘líne’ than to have everyone stand in a crowded stairwell for half an hour.
