US, more that any other nation, does not want to see a full on Russia collapse - this was a loud reaction to Putin's propaganda a few years back. It was true, but he did not care a bit. Neither does Trump.

Welcome to the club, I guess?
As an aside, the great irony is that China, more than any other nation, does not want to see a full on US collapse because of how much it benefits from the current status quo

People forget that China reoriented its economy around US global capitalism, and essentially beat the US at its own game

"The most consistent predictors of AI use across studies were aversive personality traits (e.g., Machiavellianism, narcissism, psychopathy)."
Kicking hornets' nest for no reason sounds like a very Dark Triad thing to do. Coincidentally, guess what corresponds with using AI?

I called the Herr's Product Quality Concerns line and reached a nice lady. She listened to my whole little saga.

She waited, then said, "I bet you believe they're made from real potatoes now!"

I may never recover.
Got my first bag of potato chips in months. Cracked it open. The first chip out of the bag was... soggy?

The second chip was almost fungal.

Baffled, I explored the bag and discovered AN ENTIRE POTATO. Unsliced, brined, like a wad of seasoning juice. It had survived, and now was juicing the chips.

I've been running an indie games studio for 15 years now, and it felt like a good time to boil down what I've learned into 4 pieces of advice:

I hope it's of use, not least because goddamn I forgot how long blog posts take to write.

This is awesome.

It's also why I think the left can benefit from deepening their understanding of emerging tech, rather than rejecting it outright. Not necessarily for hacking purposes like this, but to both survive in the modern world and shape accountability and outcomes.

hey i posted the links to these in the comments. if you have a moment of time (and know how), i’d appreciate it if you reported them.
i know they’re just reviews from small nobody’s, but I’d like to get them removed. i’m tired of this stuff.
thank you 🙏💕
for the life of me… how is:
“cringe game. made by a liar…” and bringing up my r*pist an acceptable review for a game that a moderator cleared??
i tried to flag it again but it won’t let me.
steam reviews that are personal attacks, and not at all about the game, are ok? how?

Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

Essentially, I think that LLM-generated dialogue only makes sense if you believe that the product of writing is words.

But the product of writing isn't words, any more than the product of justice is prisoners, or the product of love is weddings. The product of writing is meaning.

The year is 2035. There are three game studios left. Each one produces a game every 10 years, killing 250+ developers in the process. They all accidentally make the same game because they used genAI in preproduction. They sell 500 million units each, missing quarterly targets. Everyone is laid off.
