The criminalization of homelessness is a disease. The longer homelessness and prisons are allowed to persist, the deeper we integrate the larger idea that some people just have to be treated like this. It comes as no suprise the revolving door between prison and the streets is ignored.
ProPublica spoke to about 150 people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.”

Sexual violence in prisons is not inevitable or an accident. It's become so ingrained through little jokes about "dropping the soap" or "what they do to people in prison" that America has come to accept this as a legitimate and intended part of carceral punishment. There's not enough room in hell.
