I agree that it’s high fucking time that we stopped acting like we need to grovel and constantly justify the existence of some of our most incredibly elemental and ancient human pursuits.
Are the humanities the only disciplines whose classes begin with modules speaking to the importance of studying the humanities? "Why study the humanities?" and "Why the humanities are important" must be cliches.

now is the time for believing in things and courageously standing up for those things you believe in. do not care about how you think things should be worded or how not to overplay whatever hand. we're past that

I think this is more distracting for the viewer than not being able to see the yard markers on the field. Also, if you’re gonna do this, make it gray or black
the way CBS is highlighting the snowed-over lines on the field is blending in directly with the Patriots helmets
K'Lavon Chaisson is about to haunt the shit out of Ichabod Crane

lane kiffin abandoned this team and they had their hands on a pass that would have put them into the championship game, stop paying coaches so much and pay the players more

So much of American history is just impulsive and extremely stupid elites, who don't believe in consequences because they have never personally experienced them, doing highly consequential stuff because they're bored or believe it might make them richer. I guess a lot of our culture, too.

From this minister's op-ed: "People wanting to experience God are more likely to meet the Divine trying to shut down the Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility than we ever were in church...God does not live in our houses of worship, but...with those who are bearing the brunt of cruelty in this moment."

Exactly! Mamdani's most "radical" proposals — free buses, government grocery stores, higher taxes on the wealthy, a huge increase in affordable housing — really aren't that radical.
The centrist meltdown has to be about something else.
on Mamdani's city-run groceries idea, "laboratories of democracy" are one of the great U.S. strengths - even if you don't think it's likely to work, it's really interesting to see it tested. Maybe it'll be really successful! Maybe it'll fail for reasons we don't expect!

Part of Zohran’s strength was a positive vision rather than an alternative to something worse but I think a lot of awful people were really banking on a result that allowed them to definitively close the book on the idea that MeToo shit is disqualifying, I wish them a harrowing night
