Maduro is a brutal and oppressive dictator of Venezuela.

Trump has no legitimate legal basis for military action against Venezuela under United States or international law.

Both of those facts are simultaneously true.

pay people executive level salaries and then crack down with an iron fist on corruption
The Mayor of New York only makes $260k. I bet there are police that make more than that in NY with overtime.

We need to pay elected leaders more money and stop pretending it's some sort of calling. They're managing hundreds of billions of dollars in investments and millions of people's lives.

the NYC mayoral election might be an opportunity to reset some terms.

the Cuomo faction are not “liberals” but “centrists”.

the Lander faction are “liberals”

the Mamdani faction are “leftists”

if you’re mad at centrists but complaining about liberals you are mostly pissing on the wrong people

my opinion on what the Founders wanted is generally “who cares it was hundreds of years ago let us handle modern problems” but they could not possibly have been clearer about “no Donald Trumps” and on this issue we really should have listened
It is bracing to reread the Framers’ bone-deep fears about foreign corruption of the presidency and realize Trump is exactly what they were trying to prevent. slate.com/news-and-pol...

I'm sorry but why is "bushido" such a perennial wedge issue in Britain
This could work.

We're talking about a nation that forced the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to be re-named Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles out of a fear that an entire generation of UK schoolchildren would be convinced by the comics and shows to abandon their families for a life of ninjutsu (and pizza).

Jaws is an Easter movie.
Jesus’s 3 days in the tomb and his resurrection was typologically prefigured by Jonah’s 3 days in and escape from the belly of a whale, so Easter is a great day to meditate on the inscrutable malice of a specific fish.

I know I bring this up a lot, but a not insignificant amount of the right was radicalized because Netflix didn't give an underage cartoon girl big tits and not a single history book of this era will mention it.
The gaping abyss between the reality of this, and how it is going to be covered and remembered (even by negative sources!!) really does make me wonder how much historiography was just straight-up fabricated because the reality was too stupid for anyone to accept.
