Dear EU,

Please don't cave in to these monsters.

"Unlike traditional trade negotiations, the US is not offering concessions in return. “It’s a one-way street,” said one EU official."

Interesting to consider this in the context of arguments that we will not need to replace 100% of fossil fuel energy systems because renewables are much more efficient.

We probably need to go back to ~350 ppm CO₂ equivalent for temperatures to stop rising.

We are now above 573 ppm (GHG forcing of +4.1 W/m²).

That's without aerosols cooling things down.

There's too much uncertainty to be sure, but going back to 350 ppm is already a Herculean task.

Greta Thunberg issues a statement about Donald Trump’s temper tantrums:
gretathunberg

I heard Donald Trump once again has expressed his very flattering opinions on my character, and I appreciate his concerns for my mental health.
To Trump: I would kindly receive any recommendations you might have to deal with these so called "anger
management problems" since
- judging by your impressive track record - you seem to be suffering from them too.

KPMG fined £710,937.50 for dud audit of N Brown Group.

Failed to perform proper accounting checks.

Fines are just another cost of doing Nelsonian audits, passed to other customers

Audits by big firms are worthless, but highly profitable. Partners collect millions, exploit state guaranteed market.

I just updated this NASA CERES graph. The regional level of Absorbed Solar Radiation increased by 4.2 W/m² in 20 years!!

That's more than the global greenhouse gas forcing increase since 1750!

The 2 W/m² Net Flux increase indicates that there is a lot more regional warming in the pipeline.

The idea that people have been able to claim that Identifying public officials who are working for the state (which pays them with OUR tax dollars) is doxing is just 🤯!
hannahgais.bsky.social
Identifying public officials isn't "doxing." People have the right to know who is working for their government. Nor, for that matter, is it "radical left-wing terrorism." So it's frustrating to see platforms caving to these bad faith characterizations. www.technologyreview.com/2025/10/06/1...

See how teeny tiny the estimated HYPED recarbonation of concrete would be in 2050. (Lower right corner.)
This is used as THE argument vs bio based "temporary" storage to keep the status quo biz alive.
From:
Decarbonizing the cement and concrete industry, Griffiths et al.

According to the City of Paris, in the last 10 years 150K trees have been planted & 45ha of parks created in the already hot city, all intended to not only improve quality-of-life today, but also help the city adapt to & manage summer heatwaves of 50℃ (122F) by 2050.

Just the start.

Common sense.

We need to cut methane emissions now. We don't have time to waste. These articles push theoretical long term solutions and include oil and gas industry propaganda.

"They involve stopping methane from being released in the first place, by repairing leaks in pipelines...."

They aren't leaks.

Today on Volts: the folks at @rewiringamerica.bsky.social have an idea. Hyperscalers desperately need to free up grid capacity for data centers, right? Why not let them buy that capacity by paying for residential heat pumps & solar/storage systems? I discuss it w/ the head of RW & a rep from PG&E.
Could we get hyperscalers to buy heat pumps for households?
Ari Matusiak and Carla Peterman join me to discuss a wild new idea: getting data centers to pay for your next heat pump.
