If Mamdani wins, the voting public might begin to believe that good things can happen, which is of course incredibly damaging to the Dem brand.

Do people not think that 1 in 8 people living in the wealthiest country in the history of the world needing assistance affording groceries is not indicative of a bigger problem? Do people not find that strange? Do people think 12.5% of the population deserve to go hungry?

SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

What is happening here was predictable, avoidable, and is dismantleable. It will never not be frustrating that so many ignored the decade(s) of symptoms.

Anyway, I hope those who have done the vital work to warn us take time for themselves to play 40K or whatever.
most of the last decade of my career was a frantic effort to warn as many people as possible about the dangers i saw coming in the near future

now that all the stuff i saw coming is here, i dunno what to do other than maybe start a Warhammer 40k podcast

There's literally no reason for Congress to exist if any random freak in the presidential orbit can nullify laws and seize federal funds. All of this is plainly illegal, but Mike Johnson leads the most corrupt Congress in US history (and by a wide margin.)

Christopher Columbus was dragged back to Spain in chains by a crusading knight, convicted of tyranny and immeasurable cruelty, pardoned by Isabella but banned from returning to Hispaniola.

Fuck Columbus.

All the videos we see of ICE/police/military assaulting people on camera are happening because they know they will face no consequences for their actions. They're breaking the law because they believe the law no longer applies to them. What kept them in check before was fear. Now they have none.

Democrats are out here fighting fascists with decorum and procedure, and it shows.
Trump comments on the opposition: "I  thought [I] would be met with fury on the left, but they're sort of giving up."

"I really thought that we were gonna have to sort of fight it through. There's been no fight."

Jesus Christ, how are you so unbelievably bad at this?

A deeply unpopular president is recklessly destroying our government, wrecking our democracy, covering up pedophilia and now threatening to use military force against our own citizens but you're tsk-tsking about protecting healthcare?
The Trump administration’s threat to deploy troops in Portland is unlawful.

Here’s a thought.

Focus on protecting the healthcare of the American people.

Now that the UN commission has confirmed what we have all been able to see perfectly clearly for the past two years, I just want to say that one of the most reprehensible denial arguments I heard again and again was "if Israel was intent on committing genocide, there would be no Palestinians left"

Advocating for deregulation, defending the messaging tactics of a Christian Nationalist as "the right way", and now speaking of deescalation with a one of the OG escalators of this political moment. "Liberal" Ezra Klein has sure had a right-adjacent year. Weird.
