This is in the Basilica di Sant'Andrea, in Mantua. Shot about ten years ago, while I was in town working on a project there. Mantua's lovely. I should return one day.

Looking up into the central dome of the Basilica di Sant'Andrea, in Mantua. It looks like an incredibly ornate and richly coloured sculptural interior - fluted columns and capitals and sculptural plaster and coffers everywhere - but actually most of it is just very skilled paintwork.

Here in Edinburgh, the NASUWT union (& other folk) spoke against the the proposed changes, but since the councillors didn't even get a chance to approve or reject the update from the legal team which brought it, it all came to nothing.

I’m sorry, but Sex Matters is an extremist hate group.

Here is Maya Forstater complaining that the updated Scottish schools guidance that bans all trans pupils from gender-aligned toilets is STILL not good enough, because it doesn’t mandate “outing” trans kids.

Calling the guidance “muddled and ideological” Ms Forstater expressed concerns that the document asks teachers “to make decisions which are far outside of the competency of teachers”.

The policy states clearly that the government accepts the Supreme Court judgement in the For Women Scotland case.

She added: “But it somehow still suggests that a pupil might be able to go through their school career pretending to be the opposite sex without ever being ‘outed’ – that is, recognised as the sex they actually are.

I was a teacher for 20 years, in primary, secondary & FE. I am now an education academic.

I can confidently say that doing this to trans children is totally immoral & will harm them greatly.

Painting a target on these kids’ backs will cause bullying and will result in trans kids school-refusing.
