I don't like to talk about stories before they are fully reported, but I am writing on ICE in a Minnesota town that isn't Minneapolis. However bad you think it is, it is worse. It is a campaign of pure terror whose only strategic goal is more terror. There is no strategy other than to break people.

I’m old and have a lot less at stake than many people. If I get arrested, I won’t lose my pension. If I get shot, I’ll lose 10-20 years of arthritis getting worse and worse. I have no reason not to rouse a little rabble.

It is also worth remembering that the thing we are doing is figuring out where they are and then following them in our private vehicles. They don’t need to do forensic analysis of a Times article to figure out who we are; they can just turn around
License plate readers, security cameras, facial recognition, stingrays, Palantir, Thompson Reuters - while we should take sensible precautions, the feds already have a lot of information about us at their fingertips.
