Teaching children about everything the world has to offer and then trusting them to make the right choices is faith.

Preventing them from learning or experiencing anything outside your own narrow dogma is indoctrination.

I hate this trend so much. I made a pot of chili last week with two big jalepeños and there was no heat at all.
Six months later story about this showed up in my feed from an aggregator site, so I'm sharing original. We had some in migas yesterday that had no heat whatsoever. www.dmagazine.com/food-drink/2...
Here’s Why Jalapeño Peppers Are Less Spicy Than Ever
Throw out those bogus shopping tips about pepper size. Decades of deliberate planning created a less-hot jalapeño.

Interesting how when someone criticizing Musk or Trump hits on something real, they try to counter by calling the person (usually a woman) "mean" or "nasty."

Such weak little men. Some of history's most pathetic "can dish it out but can't take it." Can practically hear them going "mods! mods!"

In an escalation of the GOP’s efforts to stymie Missourians’ attempt to block the state’s new gerrymander, Secretary of State Danny Hoskins (R) submitted deeply biased ballot language that claims the map “better reflects statewide voting patterns.”

This is because Intuit, Inc. gave Donald Trump $1,000,000 for his "inauguration." Intuit owns Turbo Tax, which makes money off charging taxpayers to file their returns.

The corruption is rampant and in plain sight.

I don't know. I am amazed at how invested people are in proclaiming American democracy dead (or, never alive, or merely a facade). I think it's privilege, and decadence, among people who crave drama, and feel they missed out on the great struggles. ("Selma envy", as one of my friends calls it.) /1
I apologize if I missed it, but have you offered a theory of why doomerism seems so attractive? My half-baked theory is that believing the game is over means one does not have to try any more and one can sound cool and sophisticated while making fun of all the naive people who still have hope.

Honestly one of the worst, most disturbing paragraphs — on the basis of process, substance, and effect — I’ve read in a Supreme Court order or opinion in a very long time.

What are the effects of the shutdown on SNAP users? Propel provides an app to SNAP users to allow them to track their spending and so can offer real-time estimates of needs.
About 70% of SNAP households have a $10 or less balance on their SNAP card accounts.
