Really thrilled (and actually quite gobsmacked!) to be recognised in this way!
So delighted that a member of our team is one of the award winners at this year's Hidden REF, representing the work we do around open research at Sheffield - and all the team members who contribute to it.

Many congratulations to all this year's nominees

It's funny how people underestimate the price of computers in the late 70s to early 90s because they've become so cheap today.

For example a 48K Apple II with two disk drives, a monitor and a few knick-knacks was around $3,000 in 1978; which is close to $15,000 today.

From a glass negative from my collection. With a lot of the photos in my collection I love them not so much for the specific composition but simply the wonderful fact that someone loved this little cat enough to create this negative - a significant task - and then carefully store it for decades. ❤️

A year ago today I posted on twitter that I was taking a break from the site... and then never went back.

For me, life is much better without it. I didn't realize how much the constant anger and drama were affecting me until I was free of it. Thank you @bsky.app for this lovely place to restart. ☺️

Can you repost this little Triscuit? She needs a home.
Among the rest of the depressing shit in the world, absolutely no one wants to adopt Triscuit and it’s pissing me the fuck off. She is a GOOD GIRL you assholes 😡

It's not hard writing action scenes or dialogue or confessions of love. What's truly hard is writing about someone drawing the blinds (WHAT EVEN ARE THE LITTLE STRINGS YOU PULL CALLED??) or describing mundane movements that you do a thousand times but never ever put into words.

My old man moment is seeing people on a gaming forum complaining about games having a 60fps cap.

Having grown up during the early days of 3D gaming, a steady 60fps is a dream for me.

PS5 was released four whole years ago now, where the hell is the cost reduced, streamlined, small-footprint version of that?

The PS2 slim is one of the sleekest consoles ever released. In “satin silver” though… almost too powerful.

As is always the case when I post a comic like this, it is attracting some Very, Very Normal comments over on Facebook.

Handy, though, as it lets me know who I don't want reading my comics any more.

Just heard that Gary Indiana died. His 2003 novel Do Everything in the Dark is scabrous (in all that word’s senses), biting, funny, & moving.

It’s one of the best novels of this century. When it was remaindered I bought a handful of copies so I could send guests home with them if we talked books.
