Thank you. All of this blaming training really misses the core issues and broader institutional failures in play and simply blames Trump and ICE which, while not wrong, is way too narrow of a criticism.
The Border Patrol officer who killed Alex Pretti was an 8-year veteran. This is not a training problem.
Training can't fix this. Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent who killed Renee Good was an experienced cop and Iraq War veteran who was a firearms instructor. These killings of civilians are almost never attributable to a lack of training. This is what they are trained to do. Abolish ICE.

This is it. Any debating these bullshit made up justifications just feeds them.
Alex Pretti's gun is like Renee Good's car: irrelevant to the central fact that they were murdered by ICE. ICE wants us to debate whether Pretti should have been carrying because that avoids the central fact. Pro-carry, anti-carry--that has as much to do w/ his murder as his fashion choices. Zero.

In December, I traveled to Montgomery to visit the Legacy Museum, which traces the story of Black America from slavery to Jim Crow to mass incarceration. I wanted to understand how the museum & its affiliated sites were operating in a moment where so much of the history they present is under attack.

Today is the day to take down your government surveillance device. It's the smallest thing you can do to fight ICE.

As a public defender, police shooting people and claiming they were under imminent threat is not new or unique to ICE/Trump. It's been going on for decades. And judges, prosecutors and the general public don't provide any check on this process.

Next question: "should the speaker of the house know what is going on in the country?"
Q: Just last week a minister was shot directly in the face with a pepper round by a DHS agent that left his face bloodied. Are you concerned that this is a religious freedom issue?

MIKE JOHNSON: I can't comment on any of those instances. I haven't seen or heard any of those videos

Everyone should know what is happening. It's not about status. It's not about crime. It's about white supremacy and scapegoating.
This is the type of thing the first trump admin excelled (pejorative) at and now they are arguably torqued up and better at it

Little tweaks to the system that have massive effects, and also just widespread foot dragging laced with barely plausible deniability. During term 1, there were lots of…
DHS's position is now that if they, the government, take too long to process your work permit renewal application and you have to stop working and lose your job, well, deal with it, that's just the price of security.

/3 Because, if you didn’t know, prosecutors CAN obtain summonses to tell people to come to court to face charges, and who gets those and who gets arrested is a story of privilege, race, petty vindictiveness, and everything else bad about the system. But I digress.

There is no world in which masked and armed agents of the state running down delivery drivers makes us safer. That our information environment and political leaders have convinced people otherwise is a massive failure.

RFK Jr: We had lots of guns when we were kids. Kids brought guns to school and were encouraged to do so. And nobody was walking into schools and shooting people. There are many things that could explain this. One is the dependence on psychiatric drugs.

The federal system doesn't use cash bail.

I fail to see how this proposal — the federal govt insisting that states use a system that the federal govt *itself* does not use — could survive even rational basis review.
U.S. President Donald Trump plans to sign an executive order on Monday that seeks to end cashless bail by threatening to revoke federal funding for jurisdictions that use it, the White House said.
