Me when I feed my kid candy for dinner after I cave into his demands: This is what good parenting looks like.
“I listened, we listened, we heard from you loud and clear,” Del Duca said in a social media video. “This is what leadership looks like, in particular at this moment. You need leaders who have your back and who are on your side.”
That's not leadership, it's populist politics. Yuck.

In a statement, Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca said he believed the right regulations were needed for speed cameras. He said he has heard from residents they're not working.

I biked with my best friend to the hospital when he was having surgery to remove glioblastoma (brain cancer) tumors. Then, we changed our weekly breakfast date to "bike to radiation appointment" dates.
Biking to health care is not just for typical appointments.

Did you know?
People can & do ride bikes to medical appointments (when it’s safe to do so, when density makes the trips reasonable in length & when there’s places to park bikes).
Forced car dependency isn’t great for any of us.

Wanted: An editorial from a grief counsellor about how the massive change in how we talk about people after they die indicates a lack of healthy coping around loss and an emotional immaturity.

Buses are even more efficient at using road infrastructure to move people. But buses cost money and don't run directly A to B. Bike lanes are almost certainly the cheapest way for a congested city to increase its transport system's capacity

Rowling's 24/7 commitment to being an absolute nightmare ghoul is sort of extraordinary. She has every option in the world for how to spend her life and she commits herself entirely to hatred and self-righteous mean-spiritedness; some are more effective at evil but nobody puts in the hours like her.

As far as I can tell it would mostly be Bookmark, Jennifer's, Cha Baa Thai, Giant Bikes, Bliss, Rasa, Running Room, my physio and massage. All of which have equivalents reasonably close to me but towards the North End
Maybe the North End Business Assc don't want me and my 5 y/o squished by a truck?

Are all of the businesses listed on the Spring Garden Road Area Business Association their members?
I live in the area and would like to avoid patronizing anyone contributing to an org advocating against my family's safety on the roads.

Here is a big sample of some of the letters sent to Mayor Andy Fillmore, Halifax councillors, and the clerk's office.
I went through 658 pages of correspondence. Only 27 letters were in support of Fillmore's bike lane motion.

I think it'd be neat if everyone started CCing Fred Tilley on their 311 requests from now on.

To be clear, he was on the back of the cargo bike.
We would have 100% called off our trip if we got there and the lane wasn't protected on his bike.

I just drove through with my 5 y/o and wondered first if they came out for street cleaning (the gutters are gross) and then if Fillmore did it by hand out of spite.

Morris has been reduced to one lane for water work. I assume the port has shut down and ambulances are refusing to even try answering calls in the area.

I've been reading all the coverage of the Ford-esque Premier of Nova Scotia threatening to upend democracy if Halifax goes through with turning Morris Street into one-way for cars to turn one lane over to bikes. Here I thought this was like Bloor or University in Toronto. But no. This is Morris St.
On Morris street on my way to lunch. Who will save me from this overcrowded urban nightmare? What strongman can we raise up to fix this brutal landscape of despair?
