Say what you will about these folks, they’re considerably more interesting than Thiel is.
A trio of self-described "satanists" dressed in black costumes with goth makeup walked up and down the line of attenders carrying a goblet of red liquid with a small plastic replica of a bone. "Will you bring our dark lord Peter Thiel this baby's blood?" they asked. Then they performed what they called a "dark ritual", dancing slowly in a circle to Mozart's Requiem in D minor, which ended with them writhing on the city sidewalk, and yelling: "Take us to your personal hell... Thank you for being our dark lord."

I have a "play money" amount in crypto just in case it does another 10x again, so it's been interesting to watch it do a big run up this week and then wake up this morning to a big slide.

It's interesting that in 2025 crypto is mirroring the markets rather than countering them, unlike, say, gold.

Too late in the season to do the Rhineland this year, but maybe a long leisurely stroll through there in summer 1939? Might even detour into Poland a bit. Always wanted to see Warsaw. It should be peaceful pleasant there in the early autumn

in 2011, the president of antifa hired me to give fashion consultancy to the organization. i recommended everyone wear navy suits with tan shoes, dress sneakers, and golf polos with slim chinos. if you arrested everyone today wearing these things, you'd destroy antifa

It's the purest contemporary franchise in this way. No one really cares, the lore is inconsequential/nonsensical, but some proprietary and incorrect numbers suggest it's worth making another one. The result looks decent and gets some talented people paid. Cool. Two more Event Horizon movies please.

Pretty confused by how TRON became a big-budget movie franchise. Was it a bit hit when it came out? No. Did it become a big hit on video/TV? Also no. Do people have fond nostalgic memories of it? Eh kinda but not really. Was it secretly great and critically acclaimed? No again

Reading it again it's possible they're just doing a Bit. But there are definitely different kinds of theatre fans, and if you're into musicals and maybe Bill & Ted you might not know the artier stuff

NEW: breach of Discord age verification data.

Including some users passports & DLs

Age verification is a badly implemented data grab wrapped in a moral panic.

Mark my words, as age verification mandates expand, we'll end up more surveilled and less secure. 1/

This reminds me a bit of when we went to see "Cabaret" with my stepfather, who had been looking forward to just, like, a cabaret, with some song & dance and was very much not expecting Nazis.

One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

in 2007, steve jobs promised an all-in-one device that would serve as a cell phone, an ipod, and an internet device. what he introduced next was the Mac Pack: a 135-pound backpack with a pull-over steel dome housing a computer monitor, a 14-foot aerial antenna, and a 900-foot retractable power cable

We have HUGE back-ups on the Circ headed for the Mackay Bridge, HFX BOUND.

The circ is backed up past the Big Mall in Dartmouth...

Pretty sure it's because of the collision on Barrington - because traffic is slow coming off the MacKay, headed for Barrington #HFXTraffic

We've got a collision on Barrington Street.

That's near the intersection with Devonshire, near the HFX Shipyard.

Traffic is getting backed up between there and the MacKay Bridge #HFXTraffic

Their explainer video was really well done. I think we'd all like to see them out there doing what they're good at, and they're very much still keeping Neil in their thoughts. I could see them renaming the band, but then again it was already Rush before Neil "the new guy" joined

I'm liking that I've heard *no* backlash about her being a "woke" diversity hire and how dare they besmirch the memory of The Professor.

This could be major Culture War bait, especially considering how many folks discovered Ayn Rand via Rush's early stuff.

But then again, it's obvious she's good.
