He's got the right idea.

Used to use empty cans and beer bottles as targets, try and shoot down the neck of the bottles, or in the opening of the cans. Messy, but fun. Same goes for sporting clays.

Local ordinances can be dodgy, but if you live far enough out, it's often overlooked.

I would much rather meet a black bear, I think.

The joke is that a black bear sees a hiker with a pack full of granola and trail mix and thinks “How do I get my food off that human?” and a cougar thinks “How do I get that pack off my food?”

I’d submit that a hog thinks “Food! WITH TOPPINGS!”
