If you’re trying to make it harder for people to vote, stop pretending to give a shit about democracy.

Every American - regardless of their political views - deserves to have their voice heard.

This is probably obvious if you’ve read your Martin Niemöller, but this gives a good breakdown of why attacks on trans people are not just hateful but also strategic, and why Dems abandoning them is not just shitty but also counterproductive

Attacks on Vulnerable Groups Are Revolutionary Acts
Authoritarian movements target marginalized communities not out of simple prejudice, but as a deliberate strategy to transform the entire social and political order.

I can’t stop thinking about how the Access Hollywood tape came out before the election even happened, yet suddenly we have people concerned that the President might have lied about being a sexual predator who were totally fine with it when he told the truth about being a sexual predator

very grim

Incredible news for trans people - the Medicaid provision is out of the Trump horror bill. It did not require a point of order vote, and instead, Republicans pulled it out on their own, likely knowing they would lose the vote.

Good job to everyone for calling their Senators.
News: The most recent GOP reconciliation bill no longer has the provision to ban Medicaid from being used on gender-affirming care

The parliamentarian had disqualified the provision, but Republicans had left it on the text — it now has been removed

Rep. Ron Estes supports the evil bill that will takeaway healthcare from his own people. He also refuses to hold a Townhall and face them. His constituents had just one question..

Hot take: Not only are work requirements for Medicaid bad, tying health care to work at all is cruel and we should be doing it less not more.

Everyone deserves health care. Everyone.

Seeing reports that Sen. Jerry Moran of KS has reservations about Republicans' harmful budget reconciliation bill — particularly about cuts to clean energy programs and the impact Medicaid changes would have on the KS health care system. Kansas, call TODAY and tell him to vote no! (316) 269-9257

Just want to shout out the reporters and photojournalists of the @latimes.com. They have a shitty owner, and as a result there are far fewer of them than a few years before, but on this story, as with the fires, they are giving it their all.

1. Florida banned cities from lighting up bridges rainbow colors for Pride.

So the people of Jacksonville did it themselves using flashlights and gels.

They opened the drawbridge to block them.

So they marched to a different bridge.

It is SO unusual for the Supreme Court to issue an order this late at night and honestly incredible only Thomas and Alito noted their dissents.

Also fascinating that SCOTUS rushed out the order before Alito could finish writing his dissent. That basically never happens! Again—majority seems pissed.

I feel like it’s important to make this clear. In business, connecting data sets and making data easily accessible via API are often treated as unquestionably beneficial. But this info is siloed not because of incompetence or lack of creativity, but to protect people

Amazing resource, thank you @bbkogan.bsky.social
The House just passed its budget resolution, so reconciliation is now officially underway. This is their bill to destroy Medicaid and SNAP while cutting taxes disproportionately for the rich.

THIS IS VERY REAL and can be enacted even if all Ds vote no.

So impressed by Cory Booker. 20 hours in, he’s still speaking passionately about relevant topics.

Yes, it’s theatre. Of course it is. It has no direct practical impact. But have you never been moved by a performance before?

He’s one guy doing one thing. May all of us be moved to do our part too.

REMINDER: Wisconsin has same-day voter registration.

So, if you haven’t registered or recently moved or anything like that, you can register at your polling place (with ID and proof of residence) TODAY.

Every state should do this. It’s great that Wisconsin does this. Go vote.

yall we can’t collectively screech that “no one’s doing anything!” and then say “no not like that” when someone actually does something.

is Booker’s filibuster gonna save the world? of course not. but since courage begets courage it could lead to more. I’m fucking cynical as hell but come on.
