we wouldn’t be burnt out at all if we had enough income to work part time and pour more love into our writing instead of struggling to survive. companies and governments have poured billions into shitty AI, which could’ve funded countless writers.
No, authors aren't burnt out because "writing without AI is slow"

We're burnt out because we're paid dirt so we need day jobs to survive

We could have paid teachers at any time.

We could have simply offered a dignified wage to do any of the work we need done at any time.

San Fransisco could be clean right now.

It was always a matter of political will.

I just found out we kidnapped a foreign head of state by seeing a post about how someone made a lot of money from insider trading on the gambling platform that allows you to bet on whether we are going to kidnap a head of state. 2026 is shaping up to be another rough one.

Removal of office and war crimes tribunals are minimum first steps to prevent the US from turning into an extension of Russia and what they're doing to Ukraine in Venezuela.

If there's a legitimate opposition party in this country we'll hear calls for that today.

I think war crimes are bad. I think committing war crimes *even against countries whose leaders are also bad* is a bad thing.
I've no idea if Maduro is "a bad guy" because I know fuck-all about Venezuela, but I'm prepared to accept he is -- many world leaders are. Still doesn't make this shit right.

What are the politics?

That’s the first question you always ask. What are the politics? What about it makes them or the country stronger? Who votes on it?

The answer here is nothing and nobody.

Tonight, the President of the United States has launched an unconstitutional war of aggression, dooming another generation to spill their blood for oil, and lay waste to a sovereign nation.

I demand that Congress exercise its power, halt this conflict, and impeach this war criminal president.

I think it speaks volumes about Britain that Isaac Hayes' one #1 hit in America was the Theme from Shaft, one of the most extraordinary singles ever made, and his one #1 hit in Britain was, um, Chocolate Salty Balls. #totp

Ronald Reagan was a mass murdering war criminal and a homicidal bigot who race-baited and committed high treason to get elected, and whose wanton destruction of social democratic gains in the US, in service of the super-profits of the rich, directly paved the way for Trump.
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

I don’t think an old favorite band selling out is the worst thing. The worst thing is putting on an album by one of your old favorites and it just not doing anything for you anymore. Not bad, not cringe, just… nothing. It just crumbles to dust and you can’t remember why you liked them to begin with.

When I interviewed Spinal Tap and Marty DiBergi this summer, none of them broke character, for the whole hour. Except Rob Reiner, once, losing it when Michael McKean's David St Hubbins talked about minimalism. I didn't use this in the feature and hadn't published any audio, but this is joyful.
