I’m not big on the religious side of Christmas, but lately I’ve been thinking of the Holy Family’s flight into Egypt: how tired and scared they must have been, pursued by a mad king into a foreign country. To honor them, I’m donating to South Brooklyn Sanctuary: www.southbrooklynsanctuary.org/donate

Being an incorrigible skirt-chaser even when married and possible low-grade sexual harasser? Bad! Not the same as being a pedophile!

Being close with industry lobbyists? Bad! Not the same as taking bribes!

The flattening of grey areas with outright evil is unironically part of why we got Trump.

Something very funny about de santis praising Coolidge for “immigration.” Coolidge’s immigration policy was that people named de santis shouldn’t be allowed to come here bsky.app/profile/anth...
There’s like a dozen things that are wrong about this statement.

It's amazing how many Americans are totally devoid of compassion and think if a human being can't work, they deserve to starve. Then they'll go to a Christmas Eve service at church to celebrate the birth of a poor man who told them to feed the poor.

And this country HAD a ban on assault weapons! It was in the 1990s! It wasn't that long ago!
Obviously AR-15s should be completely banned. That’s the MINIMUM we should be doing.

The fact that the Trump Administration continues to enjoy such broad support from big businesses and rich assholes while 69% of Americans disapprove of his handling of the economy really drives home that we live in an oligarchy rather than a democracy.
“Only 31% of U.S. adults now approve of how Trump is handling the economy, the poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds.”

Any other President with these numbers would be buried, but his policies maintain elite support because of broad agreement with their aims.
Trump's handling of the economy is at its lowest point in AP-NORC polling
A new AP-NORC poll finds President Donald Trump’s approval on the economy has fallen substantially since he reentered the White House.

Thieves and grifters said NFTs were the future as well, and that didn't pan out because everyone also resisted those in art, games, music, writing, etc. We can do the same for Gen AI.
“AI is clearly sticking around so you have to get used to it” wrong. I don’t have to get used to shit. I am a practiced hater and I can keep this going for decades if I am required to

It's a charitable day on the internet but hey, let's NOT:

-go into debt buying holiday gifts or charitable ones
-allow corporations to guilt us about the problems they cause so we'll do their giving for them
-feel personal responsibility for actions of political regimes we didn't vote for

it's interesting because right wingers won't shut up about triggering the libs, liberal tears, etc etc but on a deep level what they want isn't for us to be angry, what they want is for us to apologize and admit they were right all along
Like 30% of the country is absolutely enraged because they thought they were going to be able to be utter shitbirds without anyone being allowed to call them shitbirds, but here we are, calling them shitbirds.

Imagine a world in which all politicians spend time in soup kitchens & shelters, offer pro bono legal clinics, work on low-income housing sites, volunteer in hospitals, at daycare centers, literacy classes — because the priority of a real political party should be to build & support community.
Combatting poverty and hunger in this city will take every single one of us. Myself included.

Mamdani is a child of privilege therefore his socialism is cosplay designed to rile up downwardly mobile youngsters into stealing money from job creators. Wilson is poor and her socialism is just a way to get job creators to pay for her expenses.
You guys realize that taxing people to pay for services isn't socialism, right? This is just how governments work.

Listen to this Border Patrol agent cry about how he's going to be DOXXED after being arrested for drunkenly barging into a woman's restroom with a loaded gun, demanding a date from the woman inside, and then punching the arresting officers.

RE starbucks picket line--the relevant detail is "picket line, do not cross." Pass that along. Proclaiming that you are in no danger of doing so because you are too aesthetically pure to let Starbucks coffee pass your lips is...unhelpful and does not give the impression you perhaps imagine it does.

At some point we have to let pain hurt Trump instead of helping him. Every time we let pain help him, he’ll do more and bigger next time.

Each acquiescence means the next one will be *more* painful.
