This is a week old but still holds up.

One thing to add: DOJ investigated Babbitt's killing at some length. Bondi ordered prosecutors NOT to investigate Good's. (She's now claiming that she fired the AUSAs who resigned in response, which may be a tactical lie.)
"Hypocrisy is when someone holds to a set of values but applies them selectively. what we are seeing is a worldview for which the only value is the domination of enemies. There is a name for that. It is fascism."
The Distance Between Renee Good and Ashli Babbitt Is Fascism
It’s not a hypocrisy. It’s a coherent worldview.

Expect to see a surge of proud ignorance and proplawganda about what you can say about ICE agent Jonathan Ross, identified by local media as the person who shot and killed Renee Good.

In particular, expect a repeat of Rittenhouse-era “accusing him of murder is defamation” rhetoric.

It’s not.

I'm not sure that I particularly appreciate the Avatar movies, but he's right.
Avatar is, in key ways, more closely related to experimental cinema than regular, narrative, Hollywood cinema, and the best way to get into experimental cinema is dispensing with the notion of narrative satisfaction and just letting the images and sounds do things to you

Frankly, I have always wondered why more campaigns didn't do this. Constituent services are such an important part of good politics.
🧵 Our mutual aid hub has been a HUGE draw for our immense volunteer base, many of whom have never wanted to be involved politics before now.

This model isn’t just about the immediate impacts: It’s about showing our values, building a community, and reaching voters — without selling our soul!
Turning campaigns into mutual aid hubs isn’t good for campaigns or mutual aid! Your campaign manager should be entirely too busy to schlep around 5600 tampons!

I mean, if you make a series of movies that neither has significant cultural impact nor leaves any residue on the memory track, and yet still reliably convinces audiences to return to the tune of $2 billion per installment, is it possible that "cultural impact" is overvalued/irrelevant as a metric

One good thing about me is that my brain works and I don't fall for Orwellian, propaganda nonsense like this.

The Israelis are breaking the ceasefire and NBC News is actively running interference to support the Israeli government (as are most other American corporate media outlets).

I wouldn't mind the networks prime timing his talking points if they explained what they're doing. Just say, "'ordinarily we wouldn't, but we have changed."

Or better: he has changed us.

I know this seems trivial but just the... Inescapably half-assed nature of everything these days is driving me to despair.

A decade ago, my feeling was
"All of us, the whole species is going to need to band together and focus if we're going to make it through"
Suffice to say, we are not doing that.

Gentile had been sentenced to 7 years for his role in a $1.6B scheme that defrauded thousands of investors.

Prosecutors had been seeking $15.5M in forfeiture.
