Remarkable.

MSNC: "I want to reiterate this has been 100% peaceful."

Seconds later, LA County sheriffs start firing on the crowd.

Yet again, "law enforcement" deliberately escalated.

I genuinely think this particular aesthetic trend (Good Art Is Didactic And Also Assumes You Are Very Stupid) is a non-trivial source of anti-woke backlash, like unironically. It is really really annoying, and I think it has provided wedges by which anti-wokes can radicalise nerds.
Reading a fiction book rn which is *so* obnoxiously didactic bc the author is *so* anxious you might draw the wrong political conclusion that it's making me anti-woke. Catch me on the Tim pool podcast

The Trump administration continues to ignore the courts.

278 men are still in CECOT prison without a trial, sentence, or any form of due process.

Here's one of their stories. Dad is in CECOT. Mom, deported to Venezuela. Their beautiful toddler, in foster care in the US, whereabouts unknown.
A Mother and Father Were Deported Under Trump. But What Happened to Their Daughter? (Gift Article)
The Trump administration sent the mother of a 2-year-old to Venezuela and the father to a Salvadoran prison. Their daughter remains somewhere in the United States.

Yeah this is right, I think it’s unreasonable to expect leadership to move at the speed of posting but it’s been a full day and we’ve gotten one statement from Raskin.
The Democrats had a full 24 hours to try to throw some support to the besieged DOJ attorneys. What we got instead was 24 hours of paralyzed, terrified silence. And then Trump won.

I'm with Kelly here: deeply interested in leftism as a political project but have no interest whatsoever in leftism as a subculture. the stakes of leaving this behind are hopefully clearer by the day
Saw someone say, "End your friendships with people who are going about life like nothing is wrong." I will never understand people who think that further isolating ourselves from everyday people who don't get it is going to save us. It's not. Your judgment and disdain will not save us.

So anyway, the Reddit 50501 protests are not an op and turned out to be regular ass people. Everyone who spread conspiracy theories and called them sus unnecessarily will learn nothing, and do it again next time for clicks and follows. Cool!
RIGHT NOW: Large growing crowd at the Minnesota State Capitol . “This is Democracy!” “Deport Musk!”.

Just heard from a woman in tears, says she’s so very nervous to be up talking, but as a covid frontline nurse she saw what happened under Trump, thanks everyone for being here.

interesting wrinkle to add to this. clear that big chunks even of self-identified leftists now identify primarily as consumers, not workers bsky.app/profile/theo...
we are experiencing a Kaleckian reaction to a relatively brief period of full employment and worker power. one fascinating thing about this is that a bunch of people who identify as workers but who act primarily as consumers and bosses to servants hate this too.
going all-in on the theory that the doncic trade is part of a much larger culture-wide attempt of management shifting power to itself even when it doesn't make business sense

What a bizarre idea they’re starting to land on: that Christian communities are corrupt, not when they protect abusers, or when they spend money on private jets, or when they make sketchy land deals and go on trial at the Vatican about it (whaaat that’s so specific), but when they serve the poor.
to be clear, given that musk is claiming that he's deleting payments in the treasury system, that means that somebody is not accurately representing what's going on (and, presumably, it will be easy to tell soon enough given that either lutheran social services will receive its $ or it won't)

Anyway, the antidote to the apathy-despair two-step is action. Protest. Organize. Call your congresscritter. Attend local government meetings. Run for office.

You're not going to beat Trump on your own, so what's the point? Easy: the bastards want you to lie down. Don't give them what they want.

Then, when Trump wins and actually is that bad, pivot to despair. "Give up, there's no point resisting. Lawsuits? You really think the courts are gonna do anything to stop him? Protest? He'll just have the military open fire. 'Vote harder lol'." Every possible action gets dismissed.

There's a pattern with climate change which we are seeing repeated by various bad actors targeting low-trust voters. First, begin with apathy. "There's no difference between Democrats and Republicans. Trump won't be that bad. And anyway Harris is awful. The Democrats need to lose so they learn."
