Americans having to bootleg broadcast news about our government’s offshored concentration camp is a level of fascism that immediately precedes democratic societies dropping leaflets on us from weather balloons.
And now someone has uploaded a version that wasn't filmed off a TV.

There's also the torrent link there, which is probably the fastest way to download the 60 Minutes segment on CECOT if you want to save the file locally to your computer.

The new plan is still doubling the size of the bridge. Still spending $11B to bring more cars into Jersey City. Still wasting NJ money for more highway instead of better transit. There is some progress here - but our work is from far over.

❌ Tear down and rebuild plans after 14A are murky
❌ No dollars for NJT

Legislators in Trenton should vote against the e-bike bill because it:
1) is a de facto ban on Citibike and other popular bike share programs in NJ;
2) puts the livelihoods of many restaurants at risk; and
3) makes low-cost transportation unaffordable and inaccessible.

It's ridiculously out of touch to treat "abolish ICE" as untouchable. This stuff is wildly unpopular! People hate them! It's an irredeemably rotten institutional culture of thuggery and criminality. Cutting this malignant tumor out altogether isn't just right on principle, it's a winning message.
Armed ICE agents trapped US citizens in a restaurant and demanded their papers. Federal agents walked into East African restaurants in Cedar-Riverside, MN. They closed and blocked the doors. Then they demanded to see everyone’s papers. Every person present was a US citizen.

Requiring in-car breathalyzers for people convicted of a DUI is not "a form of racialized wealth extraction."

People of all backgrounds are getting killed and maimed by reckless drivers. Let's stop the carnage!

A bill requiring license, insurance and registration for all e-bike users is racing through lame duck despite heavy pushback and no statewide data about crashes/fatalities.

NJ bill to require e-bike users to be licensed gets pushback
The bill, sailing through the New Jersey Legislature this month, would require all e-bike users to be licensed, insured and registered.

A source of ongoing frustration is that public bodies themselves decide how to construct their records and what the process will be for reviewing and redacting them.

So they can (and often do) create burdensome processes, and then claim they don't have to release records bc it would be burdensome
the FOIA statute allows an agency to claim a burdensome exemption when they decide the work is "too much" and not "balanced" against a public interest

the government creates the public interest by existing, what they pay attention to and what they do *not* pay attention to is interesting

context:
in response to demands for more 24-hour warming centers, Sendy Soto, the Chief Homelessness Officer, sent out a completely useless memo

the City of Chicago states "we remain deeply committed to the safety and well-being of Chicago’s most vulnerable residents."

but it does nothing to show it
