This is about The Washington Post but it is also about the slow death of movie theaters, of book stores—the rapid integration of AI into schools—the Kennedy Center—the way so many people in power are afraid of art (and wow even sports) for the power it has to give people common language and cause.

Not the MOST important thing, but I actually wonder if *Netflix* has enough money (or whatever it is Netflix seems to have infinity of) to get her to walk away and no longer be WB/HBO's albatross now... 🤔

What is she hiding?

Very good points all through this thread, but also I'm not sure people understand how many BLM activists died under suspicious circumstances.

this is a straightforward impeachable offense for trump, vance, rubio and every other person down the line who enabled it and the framers would have thought impeachment for it did not go nearly far enough
Marco Rubio: "The oil proceeds are being deposited into an account that ultimately will become a US Treasury blocked account here in the US. We will say 'this is what this money can be spent on.' They will submit to us a budget request -- 'we want to use the money on these things.'"

I would very much like to put some animators to work this year, and I hope I'm not the only one pushing this particular type of rock up the hill. There's some amazing talent out there sitting idle and that is a shame.
Animation ruled streaming in 2025. Again. Nielsen data shows 'Bluey' repeated as the most-watched title across all genres, while 'KPop Demon Hunters' was the most-watched movie, and Seth MacFarlane won the inaugural Streaming Icon of the Year award.

The piece, which doesn't mention Rowling's toxic politics at all, is by a conservative anti-trans opinion writer, because who else would the NYT tap to write about Potter?
Pretending like you don't know exactly why people are done with JK Rowling's transphobic ass is nothing but ragebait, but I would expect nothing less from the New York Times.

What a horrible rag they've become.

He’s not sorry for anything. He has a new album coming out Friday.

Brendan Carr, the Trump-appointed FCC chairman, said Netflix's proposed Warner Bros. deal raises 'competition concerns.' However, the FCC does not have any authority to review the pact.

this is all they have and it is a stupid and counterproductive narrative because unless you are one hundred percent in on the GOP reality denying machine - and early polling gives them about 25% here, well down even from Renee Good’s murder - it’s obviously not what happened if you watch the video
Sean Duffy: "If you come to a protest with a 9mm firearm, that's fine believing in the Second Amendment, but you stand on the sidewalk and you hold your sign. You take that 9mm and you start to engage with ICE officers, and then you resist arrest -- listen, I don't want anyone to die, but ... "
