i fell by the trylon yesterday. i would say 60% of the sidewalks in my neighborhood (NE/como) are genuinely dangerous. can’t walk in the streets: they’re bad too. walking in the snow is the best option. but mostly i’m moving at a quick, penguin-like 1.5 mph everywhere i go. a citywide embarrassment.

There is a group of people that are supposed to be composed in high stress situations, train for them in fact, get paid well for it, and are given very, very broad leeway on how they act, and yet they shit their pants constantly and cry about how scared they are all the time.
It's so fucking convenient that they get to "fear for their lives" anytime they want to absolve themselves of anything and when we actually fear for our lives because of them and do anything a scared person would do it's justification for our death.

As an aside to my analysis: this was a long, difficult case well-fought by attorneys at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid. All respect and admiration to MMLA for fighting this for >3 yrs (and counting, with remand). Smart, skilled, unionized lawyers fighting for the rights of the poorest tenants in the state.
MAJOR victory for tenant's rights: the Minnesota Supreme Court has overturned its 1995 precedent and ruled that the doctrine of waiver applies to housing subsidy payments. That is, landlords cannot continue to accept Section 8 voucher payments and still evict them for material breach of lease. HUGE.
