In libraries, we call this vocational awe. The idea that if you are invested in your calling, you should accept low wages/inhumane conditions is a nasty little trick of capitalism.

I’m an author, I’m hungry, I care deeply about my work, AND I deserve to be paid for it.
The "Starving artist" trope was started by ppl who didn't wanna pay artists (writers, painters, musicians, etc) & wanted it to seem a good thing. Artists suffering for art, starving artists, doing it for love only/shunning money - All myth turned folklore as reason to NOT FUCKING PAY US OUR DUE.

Mega props to @matse007.bsky.social & all involved in writing this tool! It's SUPER easy to use now (follow the readme to get it setup and then run a .bat file) & the setup is allowing me to snag all 67 Lester the Unlikely runs from the board to archive them.

Game mods: this is what you want!
Due to the Twitch ToS changes we wrote a tool that aims to help you/your community in archiving old speedruns that are on twitch. It is highly configurable, it can look for individual users or whole leaderboards. Tonight we released the 1.0 version.

For some reason, I wasn't able to add a comment to this thread (bsky.app/profile/bruc...) about Google's casual breach of security, privacy, and trust. I don't see anything jumping out at me about comments being locked, so I don't know if OP set it or something else is up...

Brain still, unfortunately, is deep in nihilistic hedonism mode. That is to say, insisting that everything is awful and pointless and unwilling to shut up about it unless I feed it dopamine, while it refuses to cooperate with the things that normally produce dopamine. Hopefully it chills out soon.

Sorry about no stream the last couple days. Brain has not been in a place conducive to pressing Go Live. Hopefully it'll pass by Sunday and we can get back to the z2 All Keys speedruns.

In one of Elon’s outcries about fraud, he actually ended up cutting funding for cancer research. Despite initially denying it, he was later proven wrong. This incident highlights how little he actually understands about what he’s doing.

I am extremely freaking thrilled to announce that Bad Company is *officially* available for preorder wherever you buy books. (I am linking to Bookshop but buy it wherever!) I worked so, so hard on this book, and it would mean a ton to me if you ordered it. bookshop.org/a/109816/978...

#Washington folks: HB 1584 is an attempt to take away vote by mail in our state, forcing us to only vote in-person on election days. Making it harder for people to vote is voter suppression. Use the link to message state reps and tell them to reject this bill!

No stream today, brain is soup. Tired, tired soup.

Hopefully by Tuesday this cold will actually be *gone* and not just lurking quietly until I lower my guard.

In December, NYT revealed that Elon Musk and SpaceX were failing to meet govt reporting protocol designed to protect state secrets while they haul in billions in Pentagon contracts.

This triggered three reviews, according to the NYT. One was from the Defense Department inspector general. 1/

Had my first healthcare worker refuse to mask for me.

My chart is documented that I’m immune compromised & require staff to mask. The facility had a policy that if asked, staff will wear.

I was told “no I need to breathe to do my job”.

I stood firm & said I’m high risk and masks are required 🧵
