I told someone that if I’m not talking about Trump/MAGA don’t bring it up in the comments and they blocked me.

A lot of sad things about what’s happening right now, but *one of* the sad things is the total colonization of peoples’ brains by Trump, as he designed, even if they don’t support him.

Gonna be a little bit ~different~ today and pay tribute to the queer icons of Christmas. Starting with fussy, frustrated, child-hating Professor Hinkle from "Frosty the Snowman."

Annual of viewing of Desk Set (1957) complete. Best mid-century Christmas party on film. Makes you long for the days of sexual harassment and constant smoking. Funny how the AI layoff aspect of it is more relevant this year more than it ever was in the 50s. Let's hope the happy ending repeats.

Every trans person--including every trans child--deserves the chance to be fully themselves. I'm so sick of seeing trans folks harmed repeatedly and unrelentingly, against all reason and scientific precedent. To my trans friends--I'm so sorry the world keeps trying to dim your light.

an entire generation losing their minds that their children and grandchildren would DARE to do anything they don't understand and turning the full might of the world's imperial powers against the people they profess to love most
Breaking: House Republicans pass Marjorie Taylor Greene's bill to criminalize doctors that provide gender-affirming care for trans kids. Her bill imposes jail time penalties up to 10 years. Now, it's headed to the Senate where it is not likely to advance as it would need 7 Democrats to sign on

Let's talk about Krull: it's an often-baffling movie that makes a lot of very weird choices...but somehow that doesn't stop it from being incredibly entertaining. Does it win you over, or leave you flat?

Is this a good movie? Debatable. Is it an *awesome* movie? Hell yeah it is.

I'd bring Solo up to 4 or 5, and The Force Awakens just below it. Yes, it's a remake of the original trilogy, basically, as one movie, but it's very effective. The Last Jedi has structural problems that make it a little less, though it's status as THE culture war battle overshadows any discussion.
i would push rogue one down and bring solo and the last jedi up. i’d also place attack of the clones at the bottom.
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

So many vulnerable people were hurt, harassed and raped by these ghouls and now—I’m worried—it’s gonna become hehe haha lurid internet circus instead of a long overdue moral reckoning. I’m scared of who we all are becoming. That man has brought us ALL low.

At least in NJ, school board candidates run in slates that are always like "Parents for Quality Education" or "United Together for Kids" or "We Love Our Kids More Than You Love Yours." You get the idea. Just once I'd like a "Screw Them Kids" slate.

I think very often people do not realize the sheer *scale* of government, particularly the US government.
There are already food banks/depositories in every district & a ton of Democrats have been doing events to support them, but if no one besides a staffer posts about it, no one knows about it.

Even with a massive support, it's not replacing $100 billion in SNAP. We need a functional government!
