It's interesting seeing a certain segment of bluesky decide that *this* is the thing that *finally* gives them the cover they've long desired to attack this young woman. A lot of nasty insinuations are being bandied about--from campaign finance fraud to "PR stunts." It's opened the door for worse.
When I launched my campaign, I said I wanted to do politics differently… and we’re actually doing it.

Thank you to Jessica Washington and @theintercept.com for covering the most exciting and rewarding part of this campaign: theintercept.com/2025/12/26/k...

The math isn't mathing here.

Epstein was confirmed in 2023 to have sent Nassar a card just before he died, which card was returned undelivered.

Now DOJ, following a *120-minute investigation*, says someone knew about the letter *at the time* and replaced it with a forgery. WTF?

Go Richmond!
I count 10 cities in 2025 that are on track to have the fewest murders since at least 1970. Newark is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1956 (though only have data through Oct this year) and San Francisco is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1942.

So, Bari Weiss decided to shelve a planned "60 Minutes" story titled "Inside CECOT," but the report has reached a worldwide audience anyway. Blame Canada, or thank Canada. Here's what seems to have happened... www.cnn.com/2025/12/22/m...

Re-upping this old post too for no particular reason.
Everything happening in Venezuela is about oil. The whole drug thing is just for U.S. consumption.
If Trump does a coup in Venezuela, will it be the first time the US has officially toppled a government in the name of counter-narcotics?

Re-upping this in light of the new "Melania" trailers we're now seeing
People with dementia have no filter. They'll tell you things they'd have otherwise taken to the grave.

Everyone in that White House knows what's coming and is positioning themselves. You can see it, right? Even Melania. Maybe even especially Melania.
Trump: "I don't think there's anything that's gonna get me in heaven. I think I'm not maybe heaven bound. I may be in heaven right now as we fly on Air Force One. I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to make heaven."

Here's a 1941 letter that a "heritage American" named Grace Wick wrote to FDR complaining about the "alien, Jewish refugees" flooding into the country and replacing "native stock" Americans like her. She says FDR is inviting a Hitler to emerge in America to deal with this problem!

Guys, it's time we start looking anew, and deeper, at the troubling period during which Louis Freeh was FBI director.
HUGE NEWS from the new Epstein files:

Records show that Maria Farmer, who worked for Epstein, filed a "child pornography" report to the FBI in 1996.

The FBI has never before acknowledged that complaint. The case went nowhere, and mass abuse followed.

I can *100% assure you* that if this report found that trans people & "wokeness" tanked the Harris campaign, the DNC would release it in a heartbeat
BREAKING: The Democratic National Committee will NOT release its long-awaited autopsy on Trump's 2024 win. The report is completed but Dem leaders decided it could distract from their winning streak, so it will remain secret. Not good.

I mean, this is great and all to somehow limit vehicle speed depending on location, but practically? There's really no good way to do it at any kind of scale. I can imagine any number of potential issues that would make this idea pretty dangerous to a lot of people. And I hate cars.
Is it possible to imagine a scenario in which this would be a problem? Yes, but it's virtually the same as with seatbelt laws in that the hypothetical problems are disproportionately outweighed by the benefits (and by a few orders of magnitude at that).
My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

Now look at CBS. Installing Bari Weiss to run a news division isn’t a "pivot to the center." It is a deliberate hollowing out.

Take a legacy institution, gut its standards, wear its skin like a suit. They don’t want CBS's credibility; they want to destroy the idea that credible news exists at all.

This is...not the impression I got. "Some of the *most*..anti-civil liberties people on the planet"? I admit I'm kinda shocked to see someone like Balko view this so reductively. (And no one's even mentioned the role of AUD yet.)
I think it was a huge mistake to make our society so car-dependent. But man. The Discourse today is a good reminder that when it comes to roadways policy, otherwise progressive anti-car people quickly become some of the most pro-carceral, anti-civil liberties people on the planet.
