Everything about this, from concept to music, from the set to the dead sound, from the jokes to the ideas on display, can be described in one devastating word: flat.

Yinka Bankole was 12 when Farage spotted him in the playground:

“He towered over me. ‘Where are you from?’ he asked. Within seconds of offering my rather confused and sputtering answers, he had a clear response: ‘That’s the way back to Africa,’.”

I only recently listened to this extraordinary 10 part podcast - Sergei and the Westminster Spy Ring by @peterjukes.bsky.social and @carolecadwalla.bsky.social . It’s gripping, chilling, and deeply disturbing. The facts of Russian intrusion into UK politics laid bare, in horrifying fashion.
Rory Stewart and Alistair Campbell @alastaircampbell2.bsky.social spell out what needs to happen - the same demand we’ve made for years.

We need a real, independent inquiry 🧵

Senior MPs including Kemi Badenoch, Robert Jenrick and Darren Jones are claiming tens of thousands of pounds a year in taxpayer-funded rent expenses while either calling for or implementing benefit cuts on the poorest

By me, for the Big Issue www.bigissue.com/news/politic...
Revealed: MPs rack up huge rent expenses while pushing through cuts to benefits
MPs are allowed to rent a second home, but while they are simultaneously cutting benefits for the vulnerable, the cost feels hard to swallow.

I just don't get this obsession from the (far) Right with being pure English. Surely I can be patriotic and love my country (difficult as that is, at times) despite being a good old mix and surely as an island that has been invaded many times over the centuries, that is what we all are.

Important Reform/Lowe/Robinson supporters know it’s an Algerian, Muslim immigrant Samir Zitouni, who saved lives armed with just a frying pan putting himself between a British knifeman & train passengers

He was stabbed in the head & neck saving a girl..

I have a potential rock star career ahead of me. I'm just not that fussed about it to be honest
Yesterday I saw someone say most people have a novel in them but they elect not to write it and I've decided that's true in the same way that I personally have a marathon in me I'm just electing not to run it.

We all know that the UK could have a well-funded university system without heaping debt on the heads of students, if politicians wanted it to.

That's the only thing to say, really. Every dysfunction is a choice. A choice made by politicians, not by lecturers or students.
