Pursue engagement at the cost of credibility and you’ll deserve neither and lose both.
The story isn’t as bad as the notification but ffs this notification is bad. How can BBC justify such a thing?!? And what on earth does “miscalculation” mean in this context?

Remember all that fulminating in the billionaire press about "free speech" (ie their freedom to abuse Muslims, trans people etc with impunity)? Now that people are being arrested for speaking about an issue of the utmost gravity, the self-appointed guardians of liberty have fallen strangely silent.
It's utterly mad.
These people are the opposite of terrorists.
THEY WANT PEACE.
The police know they're not terrorists.
The government knows they're not terrorists.
Yet, on the Home Secretary's orders, they're being arrested under the Terrorism Act.

In a horrifying article about the dangers of Teslas, one point stands out: Teslas automatically disengage self-driving mode <1 second before an imminent crash--not enough time for the driver to react, but enough for Tesla to deny responsibility for fatal crashes, since self-driving "wasn't engaged."

Tried to write down some of my thoughts about the sudden shift in discussions about Gaza and what I think it represents.
When the Music Stops
For eighteen months, politicians, the press and commentators held the line defending and excusing Israel's actions in Gaza. Now, the dam is beginning to break. Why?

YouTube is cooked. Searched for clips of old BBC sitcom 'Citizen Smith'. No decent clips: fair enough, no one has uploaded any.
But the sheer volume of fake clickbait videos there suggesting the main actor (Robert Lindsay) was now disabled, dead or disgraced was absurd.
How and why!? Unusable.

One person, using one car, killed 9 people in one crash. If mass killings like this were caused by any other means, something would’ve been done long ago. How is it acceptable to go on with life without tackling the root cause of tragedies like this?
Nine people are known to have been killed and others injured after a man drives an SUV into a crowd at a festival. Driving SUVs are the new mass shootings. We need to tackle this urgently. #BanCars in public spaces.
Multiple people killed. Police say a 30-year-old man, a resident of the city, is in custody, adding that they are confident this is not an act of terrorism. Keeps on happening. #BanCars www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c2...

70% of wheelchair users said pavement parking was a regular problem, forcing them into the road.

London can ban pavement parking; why can't the rest of the country?

There seems to be widespread support for it; for example, 78% of Daily Express readers back a ban.

Let's do it.

Convenience always has a trade off, be it inconvenience for others, added risk, corners cut, or people losing their jobs. Convenience for the end user and the provider is not to be trusted.
just really disquieting to think about all those people in shit jobs that have been "optimised" to such an extent that there's no slack built into them whatsoever and they'll probably get in trouble for something going even marginally wrong, and all for presumably awful pay
