If I was managing developers and someone said you’ll have half as many devs but AI will produce more code.

I’d be terrified because at some point I’m going to have to take responsibility for the system not working due to code nobody wrote and nobody with time to investigate it

This is an outstanding piece, but it makes me wonder if the chatbot-trusters have truly never had an interaction with a toddler, or someone with dementia, or someone who is *really* drunk, or someone in the middle of an acid trip, or someone experiencing a manic episode, or a sophisticated abuser.

This entire thread, up and down. Why art is about process and why handing the process over to a machine will never result in your own art. Ever. Process always trumps product. <3
Our art is the culmination of our lives and experiences and our conversations with others' art and our fears and our dreams. It is imperfect and beautiful and personal and deeply human. The more you write, the more time you spend in the process, the better storyteller instincts you'll develop.

In its way, The Lion in Winter is the MOST Christmas movie. As it consists of nothing but the constant dragging out and recapitulation of contentious family drama, leading ultimately to a return to status quo and 'let's do it again next year'.

"Republicans (and Joe Manchin) don’t attack SNAP and UBI because the programs are failures. They attack them because the programs are successful, and conservatives hate the idea that some poor person somewhere may be experiencing autonomy, freedom, or joy."
There's extensive evidence that just giving poor people money is very effective public policy. The moral panic over what ppl buy with SNAP is about sadism and entitlement. the wealthy enjoy policing and tormenting those they see as their inferiors. www.everythingishorrible.net/p/republican...

SNAP not only supports working families, disabled folks, and the elderly. It supports jobs. Lots of jobs. Grocery stores, farmers, the suppliers that get food from farms to grocery stores. The ROI on SNAP is unparalleled. These are some of the best dollars the government spends.
