Ezra Levin: A hallmark of authoritarianism is it makes you feel like shit on a daily basis. That's what it does. And so in that environment, during this authoritarian breakthrough moment, celebrating success is an act of defiance.

Prior White House renovations were done by practical people with good taste. They made the building more functional without sacrificing its architectural and decorative refinements.

The current renovations are being done by a shockingly vulgar man and will tackily undermine the building's beauty.

ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase.

The President is building an army to attack his own country.

It’s kind of wild that after seven million people were in the streets protesting, the president posted a hallucinated video of himself wearing a crown and shitting on Americans and then proceeded to start demolishing parts of the White House

Here's a gift link to the New York Times' coverage of the initial Tea Party rallies in April 2009 which inspired the media to treat it like a massive movement.

Check out how tiny the crowds were:

Philly: 200
DC: "several hundred"
Boston: 500
Austin: 1,000
Houston: 2,000

A stable, functioning democracy is often unassuming, boring even. Easy to take for granted.

But this - millions coming together in a shared public space to insist on their rights as democratic citizens - is a mighty reminder that a proper democracy is something quite incredible and inspiring.
Sorry to be corny but the aerial shots of these crowds are almost indescribably moving and hopeful

Tonight the president of the United States posted a video of himself wearing a crown and flying a jet that dumps diarrhea all over the United States.

Seriously. He actually did this.

It’s so funny that for the past week republicans have all been like “the only people out there are gonna be Hamas.” Everyone in this crowd is signed up for Kohl’s rewards points.

I think to this I would add that Hortman should be remembered for resolving a 67/67 divide in the state House by ceding her speakership to a GOP rep, with whom she then negotiated a tough budget that had threatened to stall out amid acrimony. She set aside partisanship to get it done.
