Tonight is Christmas Eve, when we in Iceland open presents. All the Yule Lads have already come down from the mountains, but tonight the Yule Cat arrives and he will eat all the children who weren't gifted any new clothes for Christmas.

My daughters both got woollen socks so they are safe 🙏

For months, we've been working on a better way for creators to host their comics online, but WE NEED YOUR HELP TO FINISH!

Check out our Kickstarter for full details and how you can help us create a better comic-hosting ecosystem that's fair and accessible!

To echo much of what's been said:

Please don't pirate books.

If you can't pay for a book, there is already a solution for you: use a library.

Whatever you think authors, illustrators, and other book career people make, it's less than that. By a lot. Stealing from us isn't heroic, it's crushing.

"but art should be accessible" it is, you can learn to draw, paint, collage, sculpt, make pixels. right now, starting today. art has never been more accessible monetarily nor physically than it is now in this age. access to artist labor and machine production is not an accessibility issue.

Copyright is literally the only thing smaller artists have to defend themselves. It’s why we were even able to take on Ai companies for stealing our work before the bigger companies came in. If you understand how to use copyright it can be a powerful defense
"Copyright is evil and should be abolished!"

AYE can we stop with this take.
Yes, corporations have abused the F out of copyright protections, but artists still rely on whatever protections copyright offers. It's the only reason a big corporation can't just steal literally everything we make.

"It just assists my writing"

Fuck you, go actually write

"I don't use it in my writing, just to narrate"

Get a narrator or read yourself

"I don't use it in my writing, just for cover art"

MSPaint stick figures have more value than anything you've rummaged for in that digital garbage disposal

No exceptions. If you use Gen A I in any capacity whatsoever, you suck.

Yes, the way you're using it too. You're not special.

"She probably doesn't mean me"

I do.
I've seen some vocally anti-AI people recently make an anti-AI post and be surprised there are still pro-AI people following them, and I can explain this;

most pro-AI people think they are somehow the exception. the way THEY are using it, SURELY you would take no issue!

well, we do. so fuck off.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

If you use AI to pump out a book, that is not writing. You wrote nothing. You stole from other authors and used a tool made by maniacs. People will know. You've taken away rather than given something. Also...

An incredibly important skill REQUIRED for being a mentally healthy successful creative is to practice going "That thing isn't for me, but I'm really happy for its apparent success!"

Spending energy on hating things and making that your personality always leads to unhappiness or self embarrassment.

If A.I. was used to make a comic, I simply do not want to read it. Period. I buy books to support actual humans making art, not guys being paid a dollar to type shit into the plagiarism machine.
