Why decline all these chances to defend feminism? Because to participate would be accepting the premise that our rights and humanity are up for debate in the first place.

Once you’ve conceded that it’s reasonable to ask whether women’s equality was a mistake, you’ve already lost.

Do you remember that meme awhile back of the guy asking someone on the street "you have to choose between universal healthcare and trans rights," and the guy said "both, I reject your premise."

That's the kind of thing all of us need to get comfortable with. Rejecting the premise.

The entire thread is very enlightening to me as an American with no knowledge of Romani history, particular in England.
When people say that Wuthering Heights doesn't have anything to do with race or that no film has engaged with race, what they mean is that for them Romani people do not count and they also haven't been paying attention. I'm going to share a little material from a recent talk. Content note: racism 1/

Important thread right here.
This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵

Here are some things that Charlie Kirk said in his life.

The man is dead, and so it only seems fair to share his legacy by cataloguing the values he spread while alive.

This whole thread. To me, it all depends on where the breaking point is when the pain of revolution becomes worth it.
I think that the failures of the millennial generation's attempts to change this system were necessary in some ways because we're often roundly mocked for losing over and over, but we played by the rules and did everything we were told. Every time we looked like we were winning, the rules changed.

I really like this alternate framing. I have no idea what turn any of my decks win, but being able to say “I want to have to start worrying about the game ending on turn X” is a much clearer guideline. I’ll have to try this next Commander night at the store.
Stop asking: What turn does your deck win?

Start asking: How many turns do you expect to be safe from opponents winning?

She’s absolutely right here, and also: why do pundits claim Democrats lose because they go too far left, but no one seems to say Republicans shouldn’t go so far right? Glad she pushed back on that idea.
No, the Democratic Party isn't losing because it's Too Woke:

Not really surprised honestly. Hegseth and Trump will put us back into camps if they can. They aren’t a tenth of the man my grandfather and his compatriots were.
The Army just deleted without explanation its page about the 442nd “GO FOR BROKE” infantry regiment—the Japanese American WW2 unit that is the most decorated in US military history.

Super interesting thread of ideas. I’d definitely be interested in seeing more of this.

This thread made my night
Bringing this thread over from Twitter so that I can continue to add to it here: in addition to #Flansmas, one of my other seasonal passions is to listen almost exclusively to Christmas music in December, and then catalog my thoughts about it as A Jew™️ who did not grow up with these songs 🎄🎅🦌☃️🎶

BlueSky is trying to monetize so let's show them some numbers:

Reskeet this if you refuse to pay for BlueSky+ until trust & safety decides to prioritize marginalized users.

That's $96 / year of lost revenue for each reskeet...

Hey everyone,
The whole reason we're here is that we want a space that actually enforces its TOS to create the bare minimum: a place where BIPOC & LGBT folks don't have to put up w abuse.

Perhaps the best way I’ve seen this put. I don’t trust big companies as a general rule, but vaccination is so obvious as to be a non-debate for me.
Vaccines are the last thing big pharma wants to sell you. They like pills that you have to take every day which bring in the big money. Especially the one (or with an occasional booster) and done vaccines are not very profitable.
